No reason, but that is why many Americans think, that God loves USA more than he loves other nations. That is the doctrine of American exceptionalism.

The doctrine is very old, almost as old as USA itself. It is also called Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny says that USA has a special place in God’s plans for the world. USA’s ambitions of world domination, world influence flow directly from this doctrine.

Some other countries, such as India have no such doctrine. No matter how prosperous India becomes, I don’t see them trying to dominate the world, But countries such as USA or former USSR (or perhaps even China) are very much all about world domination.

MANIFEST DESTINY:

Get your facts straight.

No, you get your facts right. The term Manifest Destiny has nothing to do with a ship’s manifest. Google for Manifest Destiny (don’t look up the meaning of the word ‘manifest’ in a dictionary) and you will find plenty of references to the Manifest Destiny as believed in by the USA, the dictionary definition notwithstanding.

Please understand that manifest is totally different from Manifest Destiny.

Manifest Destiny has nothing to do with world domination.

Just key in Manifest Destiny.

Scratch, this is what you get on answers.com:

Manifest destiny was obviously a defense of what is now called Imperialism. It was a complex set of beliefs that incorporated a variety of ideas about race, religion, culture, and economic necessity. Some people, like the land speculators that settled in Florida, Texas, and Native American lands, wanted more land to get rich. Some fled poverty in Europe and eastern metropolitan centers. Some assumed that without spreading out to fresh lands the nation would languish. Some sought to perpetuate the institution of slavery by expanding it to new territories. Some believed that expansion into "uncivilized" regions would spread progress and democracy. It was convenient for all to think that they had the divine right to acquire and dominate because they had the proper economic system and the most developed culture and belonged to the most advanced race.

What were these ‘new, uncivilized territories’? According to Wikipedia, these involved many other nations.

Sometimes Manifest Destiny was interpreted so widely as to include the eventual absorption of all North America: Canada, Mexico, Cuba and Central America. It has also been used to advocate and justify other territorial acquisitions. Advocates of Manifest Destiny believed that expansion was not only good, but that it was obvious ("manifest") and certain ("destiny").

We are very much talking of world domination (or at least domination of other nations in North and South America) when it comes to the concept of Manifest destiny.

Nice pick of words that suit your argument of which there is none.

Edward Kasner would be rolling in his grave at the obtuse use of `google`

Sorry, Scratch, I have given arguments in support of my views. You have provided nothing, except proclaiming ‘I win!”

You remind me of a school yard fight, where the one who loses an argument, instead of admitting he was wrong, thumbs his nose at the victor, goes ‘nyaa nyaa’ and departs form the scene, dignified.

Manifest Destiny was about American expansionism in the US. It is not used in regard to US foriegn policy although the same mentality was carried over with regard to their Empirical ambitions. They just call it something else but it is the same old crap.
