When you see an N on a Lambourghini, X5, Benz 700S and sh-t like that you know why ICBC rates just jumped.

You just ain't whistlin' Dixie there, Pete- it's f**king bullsh*t the a$$holes they allow on the road these days! No courtesy, no respect- just "me first" all the time. Of course the A$$holes in Gov't just figure the more A$$holes on the road the more dimes in the Gov't coffers. What used to be known as Penny wise, Lb. foolish!

It ain't just Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, we have the same sh*t here in B.C. I've strongly suggest to the Premier here that the worst 15% of the drivers should be taken off the road period. I don't understand how it happens but as soon as you step into a cross walk, you automatically become invisible. Maybe the answer is to ban all vehicles for a year! :)

I guess I've been pretty lucky as a pedestrian, but damn near got clipped twice in the matter of 3 minutes in Ft McMurray, (guess that could explain it somewhat) and this is since folks have moved back. Once was in a crosswalk, everyone else saw me because two of them honked at the mental midget driving the hulking Dodge Ram 3/4 ton making a left turn right into me, and I could see his eyes, where the f*kk was his mind at? I had to hop backward about 4' just to avoid getting hit, no minor feat at my age. And not two minutes later I nearly got it again in a parking lot, the woman driving was staring down at her phone, I could even see her phone in her hand. It was her male passenger who alerted her. I did yell some obscenities including where she should stick her phone. I think pedestrians should be allowed open carry.

I was very close to be the victim of an incident like the first you describe a couple of weeks ago. Middle aged woman driver with no peripheral vision.

Difference is that this guy was looking right in my direction, macular degeneration might have been an issue but he looked to young to suffer from that, probably just big truck little brain syndrome.

I think we need a purge in Ontario and Queerbec.

You get to shoot, run off the road all idiot drivers..

I'm driving 35 to 40 km in a residential area.. Some stupid bitch ran up on my azz and tail gated... Fine, I signal and move over so she can pass..

Oh yeah unlike Alberta they don't have 30 km school zones, and don't do 30 because people will get pissed. Guess the kids in Ontario make great speed bumps here.

Nope, she has to run up next to me and act stupid...

French women are a loud, ignorant and stupid as black women.. I swear !!

Really getting tired of being tail gated... If you're in a rush, you should have left earlier, you Fukking bad losers.

Go back to Alberta you dumb fu€k

hmm....All these tales of middle aged women....Well while coming into town a semi=trailer loaded with logs turned a corner right in front of me without stopping at the stop sign. I was in a small car and standing on the brakes brought us both to a stop with about 1/4" between us on my side of the road!! He was early thirties and sat in his cab revving his engine trying to get me to back up. When I got out of my car with fire in my eyes, he shifted gears and backed up his truck. Too bad, I had 3 kids in the car and was mad enough to spit nails at him.

Another time, a man of about 45 moved passed us on the right hand shoulder up to cross roads where the traffic was held up by an accident. Hallelujah the cop flagged him down, and put him in the back of a patrol car when this guy had the temerity to shout and way his arms in the cops face.

So while middle aged women can and do occasionally break the road rules, so do a great many men between their 20's and 50's. One thing though women are involved in fewer accidents and are deemed safer drivers than the average man. Just look at the difference in insurance rates between the sexes. LOL

Maybe so but look at the price of car insurance between an 18 to 26 year old male compared to a young female of the same age. Can't tell me these rates were simply picked out of the hat.

Why?? That system spreads the male figures with the female ones and we all pay more. I prefer giving the good drivers a break, after all I feel I have earned the favored rate with my good driving

Why not? If women are paying less is it because they are better drivers or they drive considerably less and on shorter trips?

Probably all of them. I'd guess many of the men's accidents are through aggression while the women's are through omission.

Last time I checked it was illegal to discriminate based on age, gender and a host of other reasons, (experience does bring rates down and a poor record will increase them though). Affirmative action works both ways at times.

It's types of insurance. Commuter vehicle vs leisure is going to cost more but who is more likely to be the primary driver on a commuter vehicle vs leisure? More men drive commuter vehicles therefore men pay more for insurance.

But then it still doesn't matter who's driving the commuter vehicle, in my case I designated the cheaper vehicle that way and it didn't matter who was designated as primary driver rate wise. Nor did it make any difference that I put on fewer miles commuting since I only do it 4 - 6 times a month, than either of us do just running errands. In NS where the rates are markedly cheaper than AB my oldest daughter bought her first car and her insurance was more than both my vehicles combined and they made no distinction as to gender, but years of driving, driver's ED do bring rates down. Can't really compare anymore as she is now with ICBC, she pays more in six months than her car is even worth.

I'm leaning towards an electric bike as the way for an elderly person to get around. The parkade is usually a good walk from where I'm going anyway. Put in a secret switch and you can speed when the trail is deserted. Put the another switch and it should be slow enough that no helmet at all is needed. 3 wheels on a trike so that is a 3 wheel drive in the winter and big batteries help get through the unloughed parts Go slow or go home.
