Where are teachers getting fired?
They are NOT. Normal attrition due to retirement, leaving the profession, etc. amounts to a larger number than Ford is cutting.

So, as usual, critics esp. the teachers union & the NDippers are lying.

Probably. They used to overbuild things 40 years ago ,(myself included) but time, experience and competition has taught (some of us) how to be more efficient. CAD has improved Engineering immensely.

Over building things the Curious Comrade raves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes..........................I especially enjoy enjoy the modern designs of basic electronics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such as the removal of the fireproof shield under your electric kettle that prevented your kitchen counter from catching on fire if the kettle shorted out ...........................because the shield was deemed an UN-NECESSARY EXPENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I am equally impressed with the decision not to bother forcing electronics manufacturers to use FIRE RESISTANT plastic in electrical cords in order to reduce the chances of the insulation melting and exposing people to electric shocks in the event of a short circuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I have been especially impressed by how big a fire you can start simply by being absent minded and over charging a small Lithium battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHEAP consumer goods are light on the wallet..................................

its just to bad about the fire damage to residences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't normal attrition it is eliminating the position as people age out of the system. That is not normal attrition.

They are claiming that declining enrollment will keep class sizes from getting too large but they are, of course, lying.

Once again the rightie government of the day will deliver fewer and worse services.

Basic income doesn’t work, Antwerp research suggests

Why Finland’s Basic Income Experiment Isn’t Working
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/20/opinion/finland-universal-basic-income.html
But the fliebarrels want to keep

I read the articles cited. Here's some of what I noticed.

"Basic income doesn’t work, Antwerp research suggests. (Headline) Note - suggests.

The research ..... "simulated the introduction of a monthly basic income"

.... "discussion is still largely theoretical, though, because universal basic income hasn’t been rigorously tested."

"In reality, the Finnish trial was poorly designed, and is little more than a publicity stunt.

The trial size was cut to one-fifth of what had originally been proposed, and is now too small to be scientifically viable. Instead of giving free money to everyone, the experiment is handing out, in effect, a form of unconditional unemployment benefits. In other words, there is nothing universal about this version of universal basic income.

And so even when the experiment’s official results are known, in 2019, they will reveal little — and far less than they could have — about the effects that universal cash payments could have on income inequality or people’s attitudes toward work and their quality of life."

FORD IS RIGHT when he says the protesting kids are PAWNS of teacher unions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One employed Cdn in three works for one of our 4 levels of govt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that translates into a whole lot of kids who are angry with Ford govt simplyn because he will be FREEZING HOG WAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fair play and economic logic DO NOT enter into the play book of teachers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The average income in Ontari-owe is $55 grand per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet the average teacher salary is $90 grand per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice pay if you can get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And of course teachers have LESS RESPONSIBILITY for their job results than ordinary Cdns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teachers shrug and ignore parents who complain their kids cannot do basic math or spelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet if your brand new roof leaks..............................or your new car breaks down we DO have EFFECTIVE WAYS to register a complaint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We HAVE REGISTERED our complaint with LIE-beral policy and with LIE-beral educational results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By ELECTING DOUG FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its just too bad the HOGS feel entitled to reject our complaints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POOR STUPID LIE-BERALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Desperately trying to HIDE their multiple FAILURES!!!!!!!!!!!

There IS FACTUAL EVIDENCE from Finland regarding the COSTLY FAILURE that is guaranteed income" experiment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an article with some interesting truths- that LIE-berals will HATE! With some comments of my own in brackets):

Fantasies won't fix Ontario’s broken welfare system

From Postmedia News. Published: August 11, 2018. Updated: August 11, 2018 5:57 PM EDT

Filed Under: Toronto SUN/ Opinion/ Editorials

Ontario’s Conservative government is “winding down” the basic income pilot project put into place by the former Liberal government.

Launched in 2017, the program was slated to run for three years and paid some 4,000 low-income Ontarians up to $16,989 a year, $24,027 for couples. The only string was a 50% clawback on additional earned income.

Social Services Minister Lisa MacLeod argued giving away money “with no strings attached” fails to help people break the cycle of poverty, re-enter the workforce or get their lives back on track.

(Indeed! There is ample evidence that high taxes that are beloved by LIE-berals are job killers! Otherwise why do they offer up tax breaks to the likes of |Hollywood North and our auto makers in order to save jobs? LIE-berals JUST LOVE making those dirty back room deals that favour one group over another!)

“We need to do more than just help people remain mired in poverty,” MacLeod said in a press release that also announced plans to increase social assistance payments by 3% and within 100 days “to develop and announce a sustainable Social Assistance program that focuses on helping people lift themselves out of poverty.”

Are the Tories on the right track?

(I suggest that NO govt has the ability to create good jobs for us! But Conservatives do understand that big govt and high taxes and killer debt loads ARE the main obstacles to creating more and better jobs here!)

One key attraction of income support programs is they potential to dramatically reduce bureaucracy and red tape. Paying the poor directly theoretically means fewer government workers.

(And just what is the difference between govt workers cutting welfare cheques and govt workers cutting guaranteed income cheques? The LIE-beral semantics of just how red tape can be cut by moving it from one office to another are lost on ordinary people I guess!)

However, you can’t have both a thriving poverty bureaucracy and a robust income support program without endless deficits and unsustainable debt.

That’s what the Finns discovered.

(And our LIE-berals also know that they cannot be elected without first handing out loads of gravy to civil service union Hogs and now that we have hit the debt wall and our borrowing is limited- Hogs are getting restless- and moving their support to NDP instead of suddenly stingy LIE-berals!)

Finland was widely lauded following the highly publicized launch of their own universal basic income experiment in 2017.

The Finns, among the most politically progressive people in the world, are now cancelling the program they thought would save them money.

That’s after finding they’d need to hike taxes almost 30% to support it and discovering it would increase both income inequality and the poverty rate in Finland.

Income support programs ignore inconvenient truths about actual people.

(This is the routine cause of ALL socialist policy failures! It simply ignores social and political reality! But socialism makes LIE-berals look good until the money runs out- Margaret Thatcher said it best when she pointed out: “the trouble with LIE-berals is they always run out of other peoples money”! )

When the NDP recently protested the cancellation of Ontario’s program, they trotted out one recipient who quit a job at a bank he didn’t like to join the program.

Despite an economics degree, he reported being happier getting free money and trading marketing services for free “yoga, float-therapy, psychotherapy sessions, voice-acting lessons, breath-work classes.”

Whether society ought to support welfare as a way of life for those who can earn their own living is debatable. The current Conservative government believes taxpayers should not.

The causes of poverty are rooted in complex individual and societal issues.

They include in Ontario a dysfunctional social housing system, the need for jobs, the reality of mental health and drug and alcohol addictions among some hard-to-serve recipients on assistance and a host of other issues.

What’s clear is we can’t address poverty with simplistic fantasies.

Cancelling Ontario’s futile basic income experiment was the right call.

(I suggest that another reason for poverty in Ontari-owe- in addition to the gravy grabbing tax mad antics of civil service union Hogs and vote buying LIE-berals- is the high number of unsuitable LIE-beral selected immigrants coming to Canada! It is tough enough these days getting along if you are fluent in one of our national languages and have good education- but it gets vastly harder to function if you cannot even communicate effectively and lack educational credentials! The market for pizza makers and taxi drivers and lawn care workers is already saturated! But of course LIE-berals expect to buy the most support from the ranks of those who are least able to function in Canada so the illegals are allowed to keep coming!)

Ford will cut 3,500 teaching position and improve education!

What next?

Cut the police by 3,500 and make everyone safer?

Cut 3,500 nurses and improve everyone's' healthcare?

Ford's plan seems to be get everyone drunk and maybe nobody will notice what an idiot he is.

Schools are only one venue for providing education and probably third or fourth on the list of effective providers. Hard Knocks is # 1.

After making a living ( and paying for an early retirement) solving problems which EXPENSIVE university graduates couldn't, I would have to agree with Ford.

You have managed to get by without it.
