SG....it's the ransom aspect that I made the comparison about. Nothing to do with Democracy. I just
don't have an answer Socrates beyond all of Canada not voting for any of these Parties the next time
we're forced to roll the voting dice.

Socrates, YOU run as an independent (not a Lib or Con or Bloc or NDP) and I'LL vote for YOU!!! That's
my short term plan, I guess...

How can it be ransom when in fact that system was set up to benefit all parties by Jean Chrétien?
What Harper is saying to Jean Chrétien in silence is, thank you for implementing such a unique method in place, but today because I am in Chicken Little power (minority) I will starve your party so I can maintain superiority in the house..... Ron, if you call that democracy, sorry pal I called a stupid vindictive game that puts the peoples business on the back burner while Harper has declared war in the house hoping to land a majority soon. Harper is up for a rude awakening......
The Collision is coming....

Although I have thought about running from time to time, my logical chances of winning are about as good as Elizabeth May's chances of winning the Miss Canada Pagent.

One... I'm only 28 years old, and the other parties would roll all over that, claiming I am not experienced enough for one reason or another.

Two.... unless you lived in my area that I was running (under the current system) you couldn't really vote for me and would only be able to vote for an independant in your area.

Three..... the other parties would have a field trip on all the comments and posts I have been making since 1998 on the internet. All they would need to do is dig up a few of my comments and brand me some crazy terrorist and that'd be the end of that.

Four..... unless there is some practical method of changing this government into a fair and balanced competition for anybody and everybody who enters, I see no reason why I should join into a corrupt system of government that doesn't work and play by the same rules that already don't work that only benifit a select few.

I supposed I could flaunt my Canadian-Style-Chavez Attitude and might gain some attention and support for changing things for the better, however I'd probably have to fight tooth and nail for another 20 years before I am taken seriously and actually get into a position where I could actually do something good.

That's why I was leaning towards a very large and detailed petition or formed organization to actually take the Canadian voice to the Gov. General or to the actual Crown to get things adjusted in a way where I or someone better can have a fighting chance to do something right for a change. Once that is done, then I might actually have some desire to put up a political fight for change.

As it stands now, me entering would be about as logical as some Star Trek nerd attacking a bunch of Ghetto Gangsters with a newspaper...... *pow pow* that's the end of that.

BQ leader Gilles Duceppe told reporters he laid out conditions for Bloc support for a coalition, and
that he is quite open to the idea.

We said that we won’t be part of a coalition and having ministers from the Bloc; this is very clear.
But we’ll consider a coalition that would respect more Quebec values and interests.”

Duceppe has had meetings with Layton and Dion, and still wants “stimuli concerning economy, to
have a real plan for manufacturing and forestry sector, to have a better conditions for the
employment insurance and so on.”

“We had meetings. I discussed with Jack Layton yesterday and Stéphane Dion. But we’re having
those discussions looking at if we can come to an agreement but we’ll take the time we need.”

Whatever. For all the failings of the Cons, they are still the ones that have Canada's debt diminishing. When was the last time that happened? Sometime before Turdeau perhaps?

Actually it was the Liberals under Chretien that did the biggest slashing of the debt thanks mainly to Paul Martin.

The national debt before Trudeau was a few million $ NEVER In the billions. Between Trudeau and Mulroney I think you have two of the biggest criminals seen in this country. I heard (anecdotal evidence) that when he left Sussex Drive Mulroney took everything but the light bulbs and door hinges.
