People who think that Sharia could take hold in the USA haven't a clue about their Constitution. Nor do they have any confidence in the rest of their population. They are fools.
And Sharia is no different from the RCC a few hundred years ago. And Sharia is no different than the corporatocracy in North America today.

Okay, let's take a look at this.

Of course Sharia law is no threat to the people of the USA as long as they continue to live by the rules laid out in the constitution.......especially as the First Amendment clearly prohibits any state church.

The problem is that sharia IS the state. Islam has no separation of church and state, the church is the state......and no other authority is recognized....no "render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's" in Islam.....

Islam, and western concepts of freedom and democracy are incompatible.

Oh, and comparing sharia to Catholicism several hundred years ago is hardly a defense.

So we, in North America, don't have to worry about it, and therefore this is a waste of time and energy.

Not a bit.

As long as you ignore 9-11, the Toronto 18, Major Hassan, the suppression of free speech for fear of Islamic terror, Jew-hatred, honour killings, suppression of women, etc etc etc etc.

Nothing to worry about.

I mean, look at France, or Great Britain. They are way ahead of us in Muslim population and immigration.

Nothing to worry about.

I believe that Colpy is a sane, rational, thoughtful and even likeable person. I tend to disagree with him when it comes to Islam, but he is one of the best contributors to this forum.

I would describe Colpy as a firearm enthusiast. If you live in or near rural areas like Colpy, firearms are just another tool to take care of certain jobs, like gittin rid of varmits and hunting.

More topic... Colpy would you please share with your opinion regarding Muslims and firearms. Do you believe special firearm restrictions should apply to Muslims?

I'd be a little annoyed if a bunch of white folk just up and tried to take over my la... Oh wait...
What if they were Muslims and they believed that according to their religion, your home was on land God gave to them. would that be OK? Would you just take their word and abandon your home?

I'm agnostic, but I don't assume the worst about someone based on their religion.
Since you brought yourself into the conversation. Your use of the term "The Jewish State", while your posts do nothing more than demonize Israel. Leave many with a much different impression.

Some Muslims are certifiably crazy, some are intolerant zealots, some have medieval attitudes... but the overwhelming majority are reasonable, peace loving and tolerant of other religions, atheists and agnostics like myself.
You know the overwhelming majority, personally?

Would you just take their word and abandon your home?
Nope, but when Mohawks said they were going to slaughter everything and everyone in the area, I might be persuaded to shuffle on out.

Question One: Absolutely NOT. I believe possession of weapons is one of our most basic rights, and I am certainly against the application of rights based on race or religion.

Question Two: Funny you should ask: Muslims DO believe I live on land given to them by Allah, they believe the entire world was given to them by Allah, and I'm here to prove them wrong..............:)

Fools? Or just paying attention?

Others have asserted with certainty that state court judges will always reject any foreign law, including Shariah law, when it conflicts with the Constitution or state public policy; yet we found 15 Trial Court cases, and 12 Appellate Court cases, where Shariah was found to be applicable in these particular cases. The facts are the facts: some judges are making decisions deferring to Shariah law even when those decisions conflict with Constitutional protections.

You've fact checked this claim? Cuz on the surface it seems quite liikely to be wrong. :)

Exactly, so why all the hubbub?

I agree, so I see no point in the big panic about Sharia getting any kind of foothold in the States. Or even Canada, for that matter.

Oh, and comparing sharia to Catholicism several hundred years ago is hardly a defense.
It wasn't meant to be a defense. It was meant to point out a similarity. A similarity that indicates that Christians conveniently forget.

Not a bit.

lol
As opposed to all the terrorism enacted by other groups here?

I really doubt that Sharia could ever get a foothold here. As has been pointed out many many times, most Muslims want to be left alone to live in peace and worship whomever they want without interference from any gov't state. I think that's the main reason why they emigrate to Canada in the first place; just like the Irish emigrating here to avoid the famine, other Europeans emigrating to Canada to avoid abusive and oppressive governments, etc.

I am not a fanatic.
I don't think you are either. But you do seem to be the flip side of the same coin as EAO.

Fools? Or just paying attention?

I read the first page. But since when can state judges override the federal constitution without a backlash? The page in your link doesn't say what has occurred since these findings.

I don't really care what things seem like to you.

I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that in old Europe, the RCC was pretty much the bigwig when it came to governance.
And you are arguing that North America is not run by business? roflmao

Colpy,

In the interests of accuracy, he should be stoning her......

Actually, this is just the prelim to the main event ....

Just The Facts,

The facts are the facts: some judges are making decisions deferring to Shariah law even when those decisions conflict with Constitutional protections.

We had an earlier thread on US courts and the use of Mosaic, Christian, and Sharia law (this was at least 2 years ago). The courts will uphold canon law decisions or those of other religious institutions if contracts were entered into under color of those laws and parties entered into them willingly. If another party suffers unfair detriment and the religious court grants a remedy, a civil court will uphold those standards as long as Constitutional rights are not violated.

Well, here's one thing that has occured since those findings:

"That a Muslim immigrant can assault a United States citizen in defense of his religious beliefs and walk away a free man, while the victim is chastised and insulted by a Muslim judge who then blamed the victim for the crime committed against him is a horrible abrogation," the posting reads. " … I can promise you this, you have not heard the last of this issue. Not by a long shot."

He's right, it's a horrible abrogation. You know what else it is? It's Sharia.

I don't really care what things seem like to you.

Well I guess that seals it then. lol

O. I thought when you said that it was no different than Sharia, you meant that it was no different than Sharia. I didn't realize that "no different than Sharia" translates to "the dominant force". Thank you.

And you are arguing that North America is not run by business? roflmao

See above. Actually, I'm not arguing at all, I know better. A very wise man once said "Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

Another very recent example. What is it that sanctions the stoning of Christians for professing their religion....oh yeah, Sharia. In America.

This is a perfect example and one which the critics of islam in America have said was the inevitable result of tolerance of islamic advances. The proponents and apologists of islam have always said this was impossible...well ladies and gentlemen...here it is.
