Yes we do need to cut subsidies to all the damn Govt agencies and give the cash to industry since they don't pay taxes to get credits.

Handy little arrangement, eh?

The gvt provides subsidies to itself via the National Research Council, they own the intellectual property directed at various industries... They sell the IP to those industries and then holler 'subsidy'

I couldn't agree more that the system should be simplified. I've said before that in any tax code that's more than five pages, the excess overwhelmingly benefits the rich.

I'd like to see a simply system of taxation, moderately progressive, and direct subsidies with clear, understandable explantions, so the people can decide whether they are good policy, and vote on that basis. It's less efficient than tax credits, but experience has shown us that tax law as we know it is one of the cases where "complexity trumps transparency."

It would also help cut the bullsh*t and force the petrophiles here to state their position as clearly as the petrophobes have.

The IPCC defines terms in Canadian law?

Wow, they HAVE become powerful!

According to waldo they are the ultimate authority. Even on things they know nothing about. Dam.. that would be everything.

Unlike you, I won't deny that a certain sector of the economy gets some kind of government support.

Keep dancing though.

It just keeps fueling the issue.

That would be the green energy sector. They simply can not get rich at the present time without free money. Probably at some time though.

I believe I already made the point that I acknowledge there are government initiatives to help the renewables sector, but I guess I should just deny those even exist since I'm such a greenie weenie.

SO not paying the beancounter is like money in the bank?
Yes. Money is fungible. If you have $100, and you owe $40, and your debt is remitted by $20, you have $80.

Which is the exact same thing as having $100, owing $40, paying $40, and having the person you paid give you $20 back. Again, you have $80.

Trust me, in both cases you have $80. Honest Injun. I wouldn't lie to you (unless I was being paid).

RevCan tried that one on me once. Even though I had no money they insisted I made a profit and they wanted it.
