Canadians brace for a cold spring coast to coast - Canada - CBC News

No, where I live, the equinox simply means residents have survived six months of winter and there is just a little over a month or two left of blizzard, cold, and influenza. The gods may have given lesser folks short, sissy winters, but they have smiled on us; we have the real McCoy!
I understand why hockey is a summer sport where I live.
May all of you have real winters.
Join me in this prayer?

Think I'll go out and shovel ; need the exercise.

You can have it, thanks. Winter sucks.;)

I haven't seen this much snow in years. Probably the fact that I am working 24oo feet up a mountain doesn't help. At home the flowers are blooming and the lawn needs mowing. One more week in here then home to warm up.

I don't know exactly how the cycle went for everyone else out there, but here, we had spring type weather almost right up to daylight savings time. And then, right in conjunctions with darker mornings, BOOM, back to winter. The combined effect has really put a lot of people down in the dumps.

The ups and downs are hard to take. Yesterday I was walking on my deck barefoot, I had cupcakes cooling by an open window, and I'd spent the day zipping around exploring the city. Today everything is shrouded in snow once again, the wind and snow are blowing, and I'll be lucky if I'm brave enough to venture the 10 blocks or so to hubby's work to bring the staff said cupcakes.

Heavy snow with strong winds, snowfall warning, regional highways impassable! Boy, it doesn't get much better than this. This is a day when you have to shovel three or four times; love it. Hope my snow thrower will start up so I can handle the deeper patches. I think the gas I siphoned out of Henry's truck is enough.

One can tell good weather by the number of magpies that fall out of the sky when their wings ice up. So far it's a five magpie day...

Remember in the good-old days, every screen door had a spring-loaded closure that held the door shut. The closure was shaped like the letter "C" and had two rollers. When you closed the door, it would catch on the lower roller triggering the closure like a steel leg-hold trap. I wonder if they make those anymore? I wonder what the hell they were called...

Northern Ontario,
About a week ago, snow blower won't start , I check the plug....it has the proper gap, but a weak spark.
Off to Canadian tire I go, with the old plug to get a new one...The clerk asks me, "When did you buy that snow blower"? I tell him "you're the one who sold it to me 2 years ago"
He say...you still have the original plug? Those usually get replaced within about a month....those cheap #@%& Chinese plugs!!!

Gawd did I ever notice the difference when I put that "Champion" in.......not even worth going to the trouble of plugging in the extension for the electric start, even this morning at -15c a short pull on the starter cord gets it going, and I have double the horsepower I had before.......
