haven't heard any names yet, from that accident.

as I look out right now, I see bright blue sky, and sunny weather, don't
know how long this will last, but has the making of a nice xmas eve, although
roads will probably be slick, as it has been mild and thawing all day.
Hope they bring that salt out early.

My wife tells me she heard on the news the woman was drunk. How would you live with that?

that's what I heard too, she might as well finish herself off, I know I would if
it was me, but it never would be me, guess that's why I am so horrified, as I
couldn't fathom ever being in my vehicle under the influence, or, anywhere
under the influence, so I am so far removed from that scene, it gives me the creeps
just thinking about it, but you know, I can think about 'what' she must be feeling
after the fact, and it 'ain't' a pretty picture, her life is over, even if it isn't.
she has another child on life support, don't have an update of condition.

It just finished snowing here, in Surrey. It's been snowing since yesterday, non stop, and before that it snowed for a full day. Yipee!

Our backyard is buried.
Taken about noon today.

Taken about 3:00pm today

I love this snow! but I am a little tired of toque hair.

looks like you've got a little more than us, I think, it snowed here all morning,
but whatever came down, was melted away by supper.

Oh, God I spent over 45 years of my life on Vancouver Island living in places from Victoria to Sayward- just hope to hell it's not anyone I know. I guess some people just will not learn.
This person has learned in a way that none of us want to. She had been drinking but she was not impaired. She is known to be a speeder and she was the cause of the accident due to speeding. She had her 4 children with her and 2 of her children died. I imagine she has "learned" about the hardest way anyone can.

What, you don't want any of this, JLM? -------------->

I guess you sent it up whether I wanted it or not- snowed here most of the day today, but at least it's nice dry stuff. Warmed up considerably, only minus 8C tonight- warmest temp. we've had here in 10 days. Getting too old for this minus 25C stuff...............LOL

I did a dumb thing yesterday evening - ran out of gas on Wayne Gretzky Drive here in Edmonton - Juan you'd remember this as the old Capilano Freeway...

It took almost an hour for help to get to us... in the frigid temps the inside of the windows were frosted up within about 10 minutes... it was a bit scary because I started to lose the steering and had to pull over in a bad place - right before a merge onto the freeway and right after a bend in the freeway so cars were coming from behind and
beside us...whipping by us on both sides. I was suddenly acutely aware that the roads were extremely icy and one little mishap could have a car smashing into us and likely cause a hell of a pile up behind us.

All I can say is thank gawd for cell phones - we were not in a safe place to just get out and walk, and we were nowhere near a gas station so we just hunkered down in the car and waited it out.

It was such a dumb thing to do - I knew I was getting low on gas, but I was late getting my son to a soccer game across the city - we made it to the game no problem but I should have gotten gas right away afterwards... I figured I had enough to make it back to my end of town because there's a little station by my house that sells it cheaper than everyone else ... I didn't make it lolll. I was taken by surprise though because the needle hadn't gone below the empty line when I ran out. I won't be letting the gauge get below 1/4 tank again that's for sure!
It isn't really good for your fuel pump, injector pump, or engine in general to run the tank right down. There are bits of things, water from condensation, strange compounds, etc. that get sucked into your filter and if it is in solution form it'll go through your filter and injectors into your engine. It's a good idea to not let your tank get below a quarter.

I heard that it was alchohol and speed related, and I am wondering if those
kids were even buckled up. It's disgusting and sad.
Gawd that term cops use is annoying. "Speed is a factor". Well, no shyte, Sherlock. Guess it never occurred to cops that if there isn't any speed there isn't any movement. Objects have to have a direction and a velocity (aka speed) in order to move. I think that is probably taught in gr 8 physics?
Some people just don't consider consequence. Bloody sad.

For one thing - speed isn't always a factor. Sometimes the lack of speed is a factor or alcohol is. What exactly would you have them say to replace those words of "speed is a factor"? There is movement without speed and slow drivers can and do cause accidents as do vehicles abandoned (poorly parked) and hanging out where other cars, bikes etc. run into them. Objects do not have to have speed to move. Would you rather they say "We think she was speeding" and speed is all that caused this accident before they have finished their investigation? They do have to check and make sure she was speeding, check and see how much alcohol was in her system, they have to check road conditions, etc. so they cannot say much more than speed is a factor when speed is only one factor. It was in the news tonight. She was speeding on icy roads. She caused a 7 car pile up.

Yesterday we had a truck with snow plow on front clearing the snow from our complex. While it was stopped, preparing to back up (our complex is curvy) a person in the townhouse that was currently being blocked by the truck decides to back out. And backs into the truck! Obviously not looking or using the mirrors. Which is bad enough. So the truck driver gets out to inspect the damage and the driver drives back into the carport....to try again! and rams the truck AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

So I figure snow ****s with peoples ability to see what's right in front of them. This person was so concerned they might not get out of the drive way because of the snow they were unable to see a big ****ing full size truck with snow plow on front right behind them. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!

unbelievable, really, now I suppose the trucking firm will get sued, that's usually
the next move with people who do such dumb things.

well, fortunately for the truck driver nearly that entire section of townhomes were out shoveling their walkways...he has many many witnesses. This incident should be an automatic removal of driving priveledges...if you don't use you mirrors and back into a truck TWICE you should no be allowed to drive...it could have been a child on a tricycle! It could have been the elderly lady beside us who uses a scooter or it could have been the blind man a few doors down who uses a cane to get around with!

It's been snowing here all day. We have a few more inches now.

It seems we are now moving back to our normal winter 'mild temps', with some
rain and cloudy conditions, looks good to me.
I will be able to start my walking again, it's nice walking in the rain, it''s warm
and of course when dressed for it, one stays dry.
I don't like the lack of being able to go out and do 'things', when there is so much snow on the ground, brings everything to a halt, I guess there is always
the treadmill, but I would rather walk outdoors.
