I watched this the other day......thankfully the Mum and toddler escaped with minor injuries. Simply couldn't believe my eyes as the driver backed right into them. Yet another candidate for Canada's Worst Driver.

Many businesses have installed CCTV. If so it will not be long before they find him.

By no means, in any way shape or form, am I defending the hit and run driver who endangered a child's life.

But people, please practice parking lot safety, ie, don't stop to chat behind parked cars. ASSUME that drivers can't see you, or are drunk, or are morons. It's my pet peeve to sit in a parking lot and watch how many people just wander about aimlessly, fail to keep their kids 'in line' and safe, and do moronic things like bend over to tie a shoe behind parked vehicles. A parking lot is a less safe version of a road way people!

What could possibly be wrong with what the driver did? After all it looked like they were
having a busy day. No time to stop for children in a stroller. What an A** this person
should lose their licence and be fined to the hilt for this or prosecuted for leaving the
scene.

Karrie - so true- a person was killed recently- walked into traffic- listening to music- never thought to look if it was safe.

that was my first thought too. It is a concern because I witness this "frequently" people just stroll behind cars that have already begun to back out. Or people pushing strollers just push them onto the road.

It is chilling to watch this video because it could have been so much worse, it could have been tragic. Walkers have a responsibility too.

I hope they catch this hit and run driver.

Right on! Personally I don't make a move around a car with the driver in it until I make eye contact with the driver. If I can't do that, I give it a wide berth.

What got me was he stopped to let her retrieve her kid but left with the stroller still attached to his bumper. Most hit and runs don't usually have witnesses. I'm thinking this guy has a suspended license or something he felt he had to hide. Nail his hide to the wall.

The safest way is to assume people are drunk AND morons. -:)

If they are drunk behind the wheel, they are morons.

Hey, it could be completely reasonable. Maybe the driver of the station wagon just robbed a bank, or a store and was in a hurry to get out of the area. I know it was not funny, but most likely the guy had a suspended driver's licence or something like that as someone else suggested.

Absolutely, in situations like this there is generally extenuating circumstances!

I thought it a bit odd that the other woman just ambles over, doesn't seem too concerned, and doesn't go near the drivers door.Everybody concerned seems a bit slow.

Now you have finally come around to my way of thinking.

Walking or driving I look at it as someone, unknown to them is going to kill me.

I would sure feel a lot safer on the road if I could have a heat seeking missile launcher installed on both ends of my vehicle, especially my motorcycle.

I agree with Karrie, people need to grab a brain and pay attention in parking lots. Pedestrians and drivers. Safeway the other day, tractor trailer unit trying to back up to delivery doors. Blaring his horns for warning, had loud backup beepers going. People walking behind him and vehicles passing behind him. Workers in the gas bar and I watched, hoping no one would get hit. The trucker would have to live with that for the rest of his life. Drivers backing out of parking stalls. Too many of them don’t look behind and around them. They look straight ahead while backing out! Buddy hit my shopping cart. Another one was 2 drivers start backing out of stalls at the same time. (across from each other) 1 (senior) stopped and the other one (younger, nationality?), kept backing up, looking straight ahead. The one (senior) that stopped never had time to pull forward, the other moron backed into his car. I saw the entire thing; the moron got out and was yelling at the guy who stopped. “You hit my car!!” etc. I told the moron exactly what was what and, no damage to the senior’s car, the moron left. Last week, I saw a couple and a smaller kid. The adults were talking in 1 parking stall and the kid was playing with rocks 2 stalls away, with a parked vehicle in between. They couldn’t even see the kid.. I assume the kid was theirs, no other adults nearby. How smart is that? I just noticed him out the corner of my eye.
