In relation to the previous thread of "Why Care?" I figured I would delve into a paticular aspect of that topic.
Many have said that one must care about something, such as visiting these forums and replying to certain topics, or arguing one side of an argument, or they wouldn't be here in the first place.
But that doesn't necessarily mean someone cares about something, that only expresses interest. Just because someone is interested in something, doesn't actually mean that they care one way or another what happens to that something in the end..... Does it?
Well, that all depends on how you use the word interest. English is so highly semantical. Since you said : "..that only expresses interest...". The use of the word 'only' implies that your take on that word, in that particular sentence, is of some pastime. Something that probably 'only' occupies your time when you have nothing better to do. While other posters here probably are interested in another meaning of the word interest. Like showing concern and curiosity.
If you want to discuss the relation between interest and caring, then you have to define the parameters a little better
