What did you possibly gain by that comment?

What books have you read on the subject that you could refer us to?
It has been a while since I read any of them, but I was most impressed by the works of Jane Roberts, particularly, The Nature of Personal Reality.

Do you believe that whatever you do in life, the "path" that you take, the people that you meet and associate with, the events in the lives of others that involve you, are pre-ordained and meant to be?

No.......

Yes...my cat is named Destiny and I believe in her...she is an awesome little rescue if not a bit on the bratty side with a tiny streak of defiance. Oh, and she never shuts up. It's almost as it I gave birth to her, it's genetic.

Oh and she has "tude"

I don't believe in destiny at all.

Decisions we consciously make, put us in different places at different times, and different decisions
would have put us somewhere else.
Those decisions were invented by us, or suggestions by someone else whom we communicated with.

Accidents put us in places we haven't decided upon before hand, and the accidents were usually caused
by decisions by others, or ourselves, mistakes, or natural events of the earth.

My long ago deceased mother-in-law, born in rome, italy, and very religious, believed absolutely
everything we do, is decided by god, she was happy living with those thoughts, and died holding
tightly to a cross around her neck.

We decide what to believe, or we just follow along from what we were taught, never giving it much
deep thought at all, but it is still a decision by us.

If I get into my car, and decide to trick destiny, and drive around in circles, then straight, then
go somewhere I wasn't planning to go, then turn off the engine and have a nap, then drive around in
circles again, was that actually planned by some lunatic floating around in space, or sitting on a
cloud, nope, it was me having some fun, just to tell people I don't believe in destiny, which I don't.

We decide what to believe......
I decided I believe that, but then it got complicated. I experimented with deciding to start disbelieving some things I've always believed & vice versa, but found that I mostly couldn't do it. Why? There's a lot to be explored here (although it doesn't have much to do with the topic - destiny.) Don't have much time for it right now but I'll be back.

We decide what to believe, ...

You hit a home run with that phrase! Ever notice that in any discussion involving politics, religion, or philosophy, people believe what they want to believe without regard to any contrary evidence.

Re: Do you believe in "destiny"? No, I do not. Looking back on my 75 years, I see a lot of opportunities I took and a few I didn't take but perhaps should have. However, I have no regrets for life choices I made and would probably make most the same choices again.

agreed...if there was "destiny" we are all screwed... it is a frightening concept that removes choice.
