Why ask what would replace it when you can ask what does replace it?
It's being done in many places.
Let us know what you find out!

You have the problem with it you give me the example, besides the $10 cloth reusable? the cheap plastic bag replaced the paper bag so what replaces the cheap plastic bag for a single use?

Moosie's thesis seems to be you can never introduce anything new unless you can prove it will never cause a problem.

See above

Duh, how about a plastic bag you can only use once? (Just a guess)

And it was introduced as a shopping bag wasn't it? SMFH

SMFH? Please explain.
When I was growing up people brought their own shopping bags to the store. They were often made of leather, pigskin being one of the few materials readily available in wartime Britain. The notion of single-use throwaway grocery bags would have been seen as the ridiculous nonsense that it surely is.(In those days we also communicated in full sentences :))

These bags were washable and reusable to the point of being almost indestructible - simple, effective, not hard to figure out?

But the topic is plastics; not only grocery bags, which must be just a tiny part of the problem and very easily solved.

So if you bought to much to put in your animal skins did you put it back on the shelf and come back later with your sheepskin to carry it home? Or did they provide you with a free box/bag to carry your purchase home?

I'm not sure why reducing the amount of plastic in the environment is a bad plan.

The thread is based on the overwhelming support in Canada for that plan.

So the lesson is that the small opposition to it is right here.

I'm not opposed to it I'm asking you what replaces them IYO? We're already paying $0.05/bag at the cashier just like a Carbon tax to reduce the use of them. Blue bins are set up to receive them with cardboard, which is reported that they are sorted out and discarded into dumps anyway. IYO what do we do to fix this?

My God yes, those were horrendous, awful problems but somehow, just somehow, we overcame them and survived! Never underestimate the human spirit; the will to live despite huge difficulties - like figuring out how to carry the groceries home.

My blue bin won't take plastic bags.

Maybe you have stumbled on a good way to help reduce them in the environment. Have recycling for more classes of plastic.

That's why prior to the introduction of plastic bags there were no grocery stores and people had to forage for their food.

Humans did not come down from the trees until the plastic grocery bag was invented.

Like - 1970?

Just get your own reusable bags, preferably of 'eco-friendly' biodegradable material.

Answer the question what did you do when you bought more than your skins can carry?

Do they reduce the amount of discarded plastics in the environment?

So you mean that we used to do something one way an then we did it another way?

Whoever said there are no stupid questions was wrong. There are plenty. The stupidity is sometimes feigned, deliberate. Either way it's a mistake to try answering. Stupid enough to ask = too stupid to figure it out, and most likely to comprehend or accept any answer.

You have arrived at the truth.

This is the game where you get asked question after question until everyone agrees that climate change is fake.

I believe that reducing the use of single use plastics will result in a reduction of plastics in our environment.

It seems to be working in the many jurisdictions that are trying it.

What about hypodermics?

Well the alternative showed up when the primary was under pressure so now the primary is under pressure what's the alternative? I have no problem with change but what are we changing to?

Well what's the answer? You said like the old days in Britain you used animal skins, do you think that will fly today? What do they use in Britain today? You chimed in with no apparent value to the conversation besides trying to corner me, what's your suggestion?
