To get back to the topic. Does the USA care about Canada,

Depends

For a strategic planner, definitely. Canada has four huge commodities that the USA needs and wants.

Petroleum resources
Mineral Resources
Water (as in potable)
Land and sea routes

Is that care ... or interest?

I don't understand why you Canadians aren't ashamed and demoralized by threads like this. What is it you want Americans to do to express our undying love and approval of you?

The problem with entering a zone that was not previously controlled (which Iraq was because it bought it's weapons from the US for many years before GulfWar I) is that the incoming fighter/bomber has to get past much smaller and faster weapons than maned fighters when on the offensive. Maned fighters are used only for having the high-ground (in a defensive position), close dog-fights are fought at 10's of miles.

Using air-power against a grounded population is as 'moral' as gorilla tactics on a larger more powerful force that is that somewhat weaker when not tackled head-on.
The larger/stronger force will complain about the enemy being 'cheaters'.

If Canada had kept the Avro all they would have had to do to keep it top-of-line-today would be the electronics, thrust vectoring and canard wings. Good to go another 20 years before another makeover.

and true.....the historical definition of Hegemony.

That does NOT mean occupy the next three biggest nations....it means out gun their militaries....and they do.

their equipment is just so damn superior....I watched a program about two F-18s pitted against two Mig 21s in the First Gulf war.......the two Migs lasted 45 seconds.

perhaps you missed the First Gulf war?

the Chinese and Russians didn't....it scared them to death.

Really?

Tell me, who was piloting the aircraft in the first gulf war and what sort of ground support did they get?

I suspect had they been piloted by Russians or the Chinese things may have been a tad different.

I think by and large most Americans don't care one way or the other. That is what makes people like Nuggs get all upset and start stereotyping.

It makes them upset that Canadians do know more and most Americans cannot be bothered with what happens up in Canada.

Easy women? I am sure there are easy women everywhere... in Canada too. I don't think Canadian female college students come down to Spring Break to meet other Canadians.

No, I said the 'girls" were easy...................goin back a long long time here.
And, of course they go down there, er, travel there, to meet Canadian kids. Why else??!!

We have a Don't give a Sh@t Club, also. Wanna join. I"m pres.

That raises an interesting side point joseph. How many CANADIANS know that? How many Canadians know how our system of government works? I've met ten year olds who didn't know that Bush wasn't OUR president. How many Canadian school children know who Stephen Harper is? Who flocks to our prime minister for autographs when he walks down OUR streets?

Are Americans anymore ignorant of in depth Canadian goings on that Canadians are?

The Iraq war was in no way similar to the Korean war, (where Russian pilots as well as American were veterans of WW-II) The Iraq pilots were trained either in the U.S., Russia or France. They just were out performed by superior fighters and pilots. Israel flew the same planes against Syrian Mig- 29 (rumored that Russian pilots flew) and Egypt. With the same results. F-18 & F-15 far superior to Mig 29, 21 etc.

The topic of the thread is 'Does the US care about us?'. I used to have a favorable attitude toward Canada. I didn't write fan mail. Didn't sing your national anthem. Just went about my business. WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO TO LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I APPROVED OF YOU. WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO TO LET YOU KNOW I CARE?
In America we are raised to be our own person. Not to care what others think about us. You Canadians suffer a national angst over your perception that your southern neighbor, who dominates virtually ever aspect of your life, just doesn't appreciate you. I ask you again. Here's your opportunity to get it off your chest. What do you want us to do to make you feel wanted?

You might be surprised at how many Canadians don't care what Americans think about Canadians. Your perception that Canadians dwell on not being appreciated by Americans is delusional.

Oh Man.....I was just play'n with ya'. Personally I don't really care and
I came onto this thread 'cuz I see the humour (that would be "humor" to
you) in it. This is a game we play. Eaglesmack gets it. You don't really
think he's really the 'Ugly American' he plays here, do you? You're new
here and I was fish'n for your funny bone. I guess I used the wrong bait.

Though Canada is the USA's neighbour (that would be "neighbor" to you)
and largest trading partner, etc...I understand (and so do most here) that
politically and economically, we are like the tail on the U.S. dog and when
the USA catches a cold, Canada sneezes. That's the reality of being
geographically isolated from every other country by large oceans and the
Arctic, except for one country who happens to share the one border we
have with anyone, and has a population that's ten fold of our own.

So on that note RanchHand, are you say'n that wasn't a proposal?:lol::lol:

Still no facts.

Fact is American pilots are better than habib trained for a couple of weeks. No finite results unless well trained Russians fight well trained Americans.

Not sure why you and Colpy can conclude otherwise based on nothing.

I, for one, don't care. I also don't care what China thinks of us. I don't care what the Aussies think of us. I don't care what Norwegians think of us. I'm quite sure most of them have not spent a great deal of time wondering what I think of them either. I do believe that those that dwell on it have a bit of an inferiority issue happening.
