Discovery backs theory oil not 'fossil fuel'


A study published in Science Magazine today presents new evidence supporting the abiotic theory for the origin of oil, which asserts oil is a natural product the Earth generates constantly rather than a “fossil fuel” derived from decaying ancient forests and dead dinosaurs.

This 5 year old paper concludes no such thing. Rather they provided some evidence of reactions different to those that produce fossil fuels, that have produced low molecular weight hydrocarbons in hydrothermal fields.

Oil is naturally produced by the planet and used primarily to lubricate the bearings on the axis. Certainly you can understand the necessity of properly lubricated bearings. I suggest, and many other scientists as well, that the planet would never have opted for the unlikely magical production of oil from dead organisms using a method similar to the well known hoax of turning water into wine. Which never happens either. You should retire from science and become a fundemental preacher in Alabama. It has been determined that the the gearbox and bearing of the planet would have been filled with oil well before it started revolving.

The theory is employed in Russian oil exploration today and has been for forty years. Abiotic exponents drill far fewer dry holes than the
biotic adherents. Water is also a product of this planet rather than an import.

I believe you meant to put a don't in there Cliffy. There is evidence that all the necessary ingredients for oil production and water production come to this planet carried by current. If there's a way to fork that up though yea we will try.

There were articles on "abiotic" in Science Magazine, just not on abiotic oil.

But the band is cooler.
