It's like this most of the time at the leading edge of the frontier of theoretical physics. Moving forward, youthful explorers of science should expect minor setbacks on a dayly basis. Rest assured you will be subjected to constant rigorous peer review of the highest available standards. We have no choice but to endure the barbs of doubters in keeping with the established heroism of our illustrious fellow pioneers who in the pursuit of excellence never allowed facts to block the developement of science. So in the morning we will pick up our measuring tape and screwdriver and continue the arduous journey toward the far distant shore of human enlightenment stopping frequently to review our notes and beer and cannabis lunches.

Voltage is electric potential energy per unit charge, measured in joules per coulomb ( = volts).

Not saying I agree with the graphs and methods put forward by DB but on this one I don't see your argument.

I like the electric model of the universe because I had absolutely no hope of penetrating the gravity model. I think I share that with many other interested and interesting people.

I'm not surprised, I don't see it either on re-reading my post. Not one of my better thought out statements. It was late and I was tired. You're right, joules per coulomb is one way to understand volts, which is indeed energy per unit of charge. What I was really thinking at the time was that you can't approach a complex problem in magnetohydrodynamics as if it were simple electrical circuits.

Pure Science and the Posthuman Future
Abstract
Since the industrial revolution, humans have tended to reduce science to the ancillary role of engine of technology. More importantly humans have tended to elevate science to the role of god as an insturment in the exploitation of human faith.

But the quest for knowledge started two and a half millennia ago with
the aim of setting humans free from ignorance. The beginings of science have been buried in sand and submerged in seas since the time of the four planet system maybe, two and a half millenniais very wrong, just the act of mixing the paint for cave art or building a bow and an arrow required science let alone the constructions littering the planet that proove science is almost as old as the race, in fact it's older than monkeys and it's older than our planet.

The first scientists and philosophers saw
knowledge as the goal, not as the means. The main goal was to understand matter, life,
conscience, intelligence, our origin, and our destiny, not only to solve practical problems.
Being sceptical to myths and religions, they gave themselves the goal to reach The Answer via rational and empirical inquiry. What's rational about discounting myth or religion before you understand its origins? Sure the method orders that rational and impirical inquiriry will rule but human rules are very temporary things eh. They are made to be broken, there is no other way to learn.

Transhumanism is a very specific philosophy of
technology, because one of its goals is the creation of a posthuman intelligence. Several
scientists share this hope: making of technology the ancilla of science, and not vice versa.
There are transhumanists of many different kinds, holding specific political, cultural or religious views.
However, all transhumanists share a high degree of faith in science. Science is mainly seen as the
instrument that can help humans to overcome their biological limitations – that is, to fight against aging,
death, illnesses, and other mental and physical weaknesses. Even if this is already a respectable position
from an ethical point of view, the program seems to be too reductive. It reduces science to a mere
instrument and this implies a clear violation of the ethos of science. Indeed, according to sociologist
Robert K. Merton (1973, 275), one of the main norms of the scientific ethos is disinterestedness: According to the rule book sure but the empirical evidence indicates that this rules been broken many times sniffing out nobel prizes.We'll be transhuman soon enough, even the gods evolve to dust eh. Very nice pictures, makes me feel comfortably insignifigant, I wonder if the whole thing is a sphere though and what its suspended in, like is it a big fish tank or something? I think it has to be infinite because if it isn't it requires a container don't it?. There's a finite ammount of human accessable knowledge in the onionverse there's a finite ammount of transhuman knowledge even the gods had limits.
