Gottta milk all the votes you can today.

I always find it mildly entertaining when political leaders make a promise today that has zero effect on them but in theory at least put the onus on future leaders to act upon them. Or maybe it is just pathetic.

A decade means 85 years?
That's weird mathematics even for Byrdie.....
Oh for goodness sake, everything has to be spelled out for those with limited reading comprehension I guess. Yes the the agreement is for the end of the century BUT it also states they keep the earth temp down to 2 deg C higher than what it was pre-industrial times from now on. Unfortunately, they could not get all to agree on the penalties for those who fail to keep their intended protocols. Look for that to happen within a decade. And they will be hefty, for sure.

And if everyone does what is asked and the temp still goes more than two degrees hotter they'll be back asking for more.

Even if the temperature has not moved they will be back asking for more . That's what they do .

Well, the biggest problem here seems to be attributing the "good" news to the bearer. thereof. I simply pointed out what Harper and cohorts signed us up for. I guess gas emitting from the rear ends of some humans is sweet compared to what comes from their keyboards. Not my fault folks, look to your revered leader.

How can warming be a threat if we are still below average historic temperature?
Local warming in one spot can create a lot of snow where there wasn't any before. Todays the winds are parallel to the equator, if they change to N/S then cold air that circulated in a circle around the poles will start to cool off larger areas than are warming. The sun cannot heat up the water without also heating up the land. If the water and not the land is heating up then the heat is coming from below rather than from above.
