No Rise of Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction in Past 160 Years, New Research Finds

ScienceDaily (Dec. 31, 2009) — Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. In fact, only about 45 percent of emitted carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere.

So if it dll go into the oceans, then the oceans are in big trouble. If CO2 isn't curbed, the oceans will become increasingly acidic. Peachy. We could call it the Dead Sea Effect except it won't be a high content of salt that keeps much life out, it'll be carbonic acid.

Airborne fraction isn't changing, still about 45% of the emissions stay airborne. That doesn't mean there hasn't been a rise in atmospheric concentration, or that there is no forcing imposed on the climate system. Not sure how that is a death knell for AGW. Care to explain Walt?

The venue is Cern, Europe's most highly respected centers for scientific research.

What we don't know or don't want to know can really come back to hurt us. For too many of us "reality" is what we read and hear in the media. On climate change the media has created a false reality. In reality, as far as anthropogenic (human caused) global warming is concerned, we just don't know, but the media has created a reality that we do know, which is false. They have also conflated global warming with anthropogenic global warming but the two are quite different. Until about 1998 global temperatures were rising but the rise was totally within natural variation. Since then the climate has stopped warming even though more CO2 has been put into the atmosphere.

ScienceDaily has updated the title of the article that Walt excerpted. It now reads:
No Rise of Airborne Fraction of Carbon Dioxide in Past 150 Years, New Research Finds.

Instead of:
No Rise of Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction in Past 160 Years, New Research Finds

If you actually read the article, it's clear what is being said.

Weather is cold but, not to worry, the climate is warming.

This weather is cold, yeah. It's something the meteorologists refer to as winter. You may have heard of it.

No answer for my question above? Did you read about the CO2 fraction on Watts' blog?

Exactly. Meanwhile the southern hemisphere and the oceans are having their own records.

38 F this morning down in Miami, Florida, water temp. 72F. It is winter all right, a very bitter one for the North East.

About those 'anomalous' temperatures...

William D. Zeranski

Here we have some poor mountain people in Peru, living in the most primitive of conditions, on the verge of ‘extinction' because of severe cold, and it is being said that this proves, dare I say it, even as I shake my head at the utter silliness, this proves the "world growing ever hotter."

Global warming/Climate change believers continue to seek validation for bad science. It's the continual mantra, "See, see! It's true!" Climategate broke last year and the Copenhagen Climate Carnival collapsed. The jig is up, but all the same, it's about finding that one item, which can be used to illustrate the reality of a false premise:

In a world growing ever hotter, Huancavelica is an anomaly. These communities, living at the edge of what is possible, face extinction because of increasingly cold conditions in their own microclimate, which may have been altered by the rapid melting of the glaciers.
These endangered people live in the Peruvian Andes, at roughly 4,700m above sea level, but it all about melting glaciers, and how anomalous the situation.

But, heck, I'm game! Here are some more anomalies:

A record amount of snow fell in Burlington from the weekend storm that left a coat of varying depth across the region.

Cold, windy weather enveloping the U.S. from the northern Plains to the East Coast may continue to break temperature records today.

Thermometers across Iowa dipped into the negative double digits. And this intense cold probably isn't going anywhere until next weekend.
And there's Europe and China . . .

At some point, any sane, commonsense person must reach the conclusion that the evidence of harsh temperatures is ubiquitous, and what is occurring in the Peruvian mountains is no longer an anomaly.

As plans are being made for the next UN ‘climate change' conference, the annual attempt at a power and money grab; the serious and most dangerous anomaly is that there are people who still believe the planet is warming.

How Does Cap and Trade Work?

As world leaders meet in Copenhagen to discuss global warming, the U.S. Senate is considering a bill to create a cap and trade system.

The measure under debate would put a cap -- or limit -- on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States in a given year.

It would also allow polluters to trade their permits for emissions.

But how would it work exactly?

Watch a brief video explaining cap and trade on Congress.org.

GHG's, water vapour, CO2, et al, are not pollutants.

The only thing that separates poisons from non-poisons is dosage Walt. Carbon dioxide has been found to cause disruption, in the climate system, and is upsetting ocean chemistry. Burning fossil fuels creates other greenhouse gases as well, like nitrous oxide, which contributes to lower atmosphere production of ozone, quite harmful. Anything that is deleterious is called pollution. Can you understand this? I've only had to explain this to you about a dozen or so times now.
