Paul Quinn College's new president shared his students' disgust when he looked around campus earlier this year.

"Our students needed to learn what's the appropriate method of dress," Michael Sorrell said.
So he ordered students to pull the pants up and conform to a business casual dress code. The effect, he says, was immediate.

"The students carry themselves differently. They command more respect from the professors and from each other," he said.

At the college, violators perform community service hours and run laps on Saturday mornings.

I just have a funny picture in my head of students trying to run laps while wearing the saggy pants:lol:

Aren't fashion fads a hoot! :)

What I want to know is what is holding them up? Hidden suspenders? Crazy glue? That girl in the photo doesn't look like she could walk more than a few steps before they were down around her ankles.

I think they have to stand with a wide stance, like a triangle. And frequently pull them back up.

You could be right. I can't help feeling that the students breathed a sigh of relief when this fad was banned.
Back in the olden days we used to engage in a sport called parking.........That is, we would pick up our girlfriends and, drive to a secluded spot, and do some heavy petting. I was wondering how this particular fad would have affected us back then....;-)

A dress code at a college is one thing.... that is probably fine. But some towns are making it illegal to wear baggy pants in public! This is a totally different issue.

It's hardly obscene.... There's no ass-crack involved.... Where's the crime?

If any of these pukes had any money I think they could get it overturned in court easily enough.

Why is it any different. Why should we inflict this stupidity on the public.

The crime is bad taste.

I don't know if they could get it overturned...Why would they?.........I know.....personal freedom and all that, but do we want this garbage anywhere?

They should make plumbers wear a one-piece suit of underwear then. That way we don't have to see their ass-cracks when they repair our sinks.;-):p

Velvet tracksuits and the smell of bad perfume mixed with Ben Gay offends me.... But being offended by someone's manner of dress is not reason enough to make certain clothing illegal. That's simply idiotic. They can't legislate good taste.... nor should they even try. It's a waste of tax dollars and, eventually, court time when someone challenges the fine in a court of law. What a collosal waste of time and resources that should be spent finding solutions to homelessness, helping create more addiction services, creating solutions to traffic problems, fixing sidewalks, finding solutions to urban sprawl, creating better transit systems..... THAT is why WE pay people in City Hall.... not to create a new Beauracracy of Fashion and Fashion Faux Pas Enforcement.

I know.....personal freedom and all that, but do we want this garbage anywhere?

I think personal freedom is a little more important than your delicate sensibilities about seeing a 17 year olds underwear!

for once, Joe, I agree with you. Baggy pants are stupid, really stupid, but if anyone wants to wear them, they should be allowed. I feel the same about nudity too.

How is getting rid of this sort of apparel affecting anyone's personal freedom?
There is such a thing as good taste.

Well, if it's any consolation, baggy pants were the cause for a thief to be captured here in Chatham. Some dillweeds were trying to root through people's cars at the factory, when we caught them redhanded. The one doing the rooting hopped on a bike and tried to get away(but was found a short distance away), but the "lookout" across the road fled the scene. With police officers behind him on a foot pursuit, and him slowly getting away, he ended up being brought down due to his baggy pants. They fell to his ankles and tripped him up. Needless to say, we all had a laugh when we heard how he got caught.

See? Baggy pants were good for a change!:p:lol:

Then ban track suits on geriatrics! I find that in poor taste. Ripped jeans too.... especially the ones ripped in the ass intentionally! Let's just have a dress code for all public appearences. The gov't should issue greay non-offensive suits with matching (bland) ties and dress shoes.

The good thing is they will never grow out of their pants. As they grow the waist gets lower and lower. The taller you grow, the more in style you will be!

Jeans like that are almost as bad as saggy pants....;-)
