One trick I find that helps me to cope when I experience a discomfort or inconvenience is to think of the poor bugger lying on his back in a hospital bed struggling to get a breath. Puts things in perpective!
the difference would be that you CARE.......while the mask whiners think only of THEMSELVES. Very immature., selfish and irresponsible.

That's good incentive. I think of others as well as my husband who is still weakened from his recent fight with cancer. I do all that I can do to keep him safe, and he does the same for me.

very well stated........and mask whiners should take heed.

BUT........when there is an immature, irresponsible ,idiotic leader to the south of ;us..............that actually makes fun of people wearing masks........... it is not surprising that like minded will follow suit.

There are so many out there who are at a greater risk of a poor outcome should they catch covid, it is such an unselfish act to simply wear a mask. I can't help but think how anti-maskers would react if someone that they cared for was fighting cancer and undergoing chemo which obliterated their immune system and a stranger walked into their hospital room with no mask on in the height of flu season. Yeah, they'd be all for masks then, I promise you that.

Yeah, they should take heed.

OB, you are so right each and every time you describe him, and ultimately those who emulate him.

sadly, self centered people don't think in terms of "what if " scenarios. (eg......the idiot Trump........who makes fun of mask wearers)......... They only think of their own wants, needs .they justify their conduct with data that fits their thinking. They are totally &shamefully inconsiderate.

an aside: but Trumps is actually encouraging mass dying, and illness by his horrible sick and selfish attitude.

It is almost hard to comprehend just how SADISTIC and cruel he is. It is harder to comprehend his supporters.

Back to people like your husband, who's immune systems have been compromised........... your point is so important in taking responsibility for ones behavior in a pandemic. One has no way of knowing what medical problems the person ahead of you in a lineup has.

Trump is a man with weak morals and no character at all, he cares only for his gains in any scenario, period. He is a stain and nothing more.

My husband having gone through cancer opened my eyes on being aware of people around me in not knowing what they might be facing and how my actions when near them may have an effect, and I paid attention to that. In a way we were prepared for something like covid because during his 6 month treatment we isolated as much as possible to lessen his risk. Worth mention is that about 3 weeks before his chemo was to end he caught a flu bug and he went downhill in no time and ended up in emergency and was admitted for 3 days. Luckily he was able to shake it off with the help of the hospital, but it lends as an example that indeed you don't know what the person ahead of you in a line is going through. Just wear a damn mask, it may make a difference.

Now that is as silly as banning peanut butter sandwiches in school because 1 kid in the class has a peanut allergy. If you have a compromised immune system, STAY HOME.

The funny thing with cancer is that they don't come to your house to provide chemo treatments, nor do they bring the equipment to your house for radiation treatments, nor does the oncologist make house calls, nor do surgeons perform procedures and surgeries in home, nor do their support staff, nor do they provide MRI's, CT scans, bone scans, ultrasounds, chemo port implants and colonoscopies in home, it's too tight a squeeze to get the equipment in the front door. Nor does the lab come to your home for tumor marker blood tests. Nor does the ER staff come to your home when they are needed. And so as you can see we had no option other than to leave the house from time to time.

Other than that very full schedule we isolated as much as possible and were fortunate to have friends, family and very generous neighbours helping out.
