''You're missing out on a lot. Ray Price is classic.''

I've heard C & W a lot more in the past. For example, remember Price when he did Outlaw Country along with Willie Nelson & Roger Miller? I also enjoyed Tex-Mex featuring Flaco Jimenez & Freddie Fender.

Other old stars include: Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Barbera Mandrell, Ronnie Milsap, Lyle Lovett. I even go so far as Chet Atkins, Charlie Rich, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline.

In fact, back in the 60s I used to like a forgotten genre called Western Swing with old timers like Lefty Frizzell, Bob Wills, and Sons of the Pioneers.

Therefore, I did not miss out on old great C & W music - in fact, I say it stacks up with any other genre. It's just the modern stuff (some of it nothing more than right wing bullsh*t disguised as music) that I don't care for all that much.

This is what I call true C & W music:

YouTube - Sons Of The Pioneers Tumbling Tumbleweed

Makes we want to see Tom Mix in ''Riders of the Purple Sage'' again.

All right you C & W music fans ~ identify this singing beauty:

My all time favourite singer is Haggard I have 33 albums of his. Others include Hank Thompson, George Jones
and some others like Gene Watson, Tom T Hall, Vern Gosdin people like that. One for a good laugh is Mel McDaniel
and a song called plastic girl. Another guy you might like is Ed Bruce, He wrote a lot of stuff for Waylon and Willie,
like This Is The Last Cowboy Song, another one he wrote was If I Die Just Let Me Go To Texas, Tanya Tucker had
a number one hit with that. I used to play a lot of non commercial country stuff and there is some interesting material.
out there. I wonder if anyone remembers Liz Anderson, not Lynn Anderson her daughter but Liz, she had some good
stuff. How about Johnny Paycheck, everyone thinks of Take this Job and Shove it. How many have heard the album
cut of Colorado Kool Aid. What about David Allen Coe. Bobby Bare Ray Price, and mentioned earlier today
Hank Lochlan. There was a hell of a pile of good stuff out there. Every liberated woman should have an couple of old
Loretta Lynn records, she was setting new boundaries for music as far back as the sixties. I know there are all kinds
of people who don't like the old stuff but the new is nothing more than pop mush compared to the real country.
Over the decades I played rock and roll, the heavy metal stuff, Adult contemporary and Country and I still like the
country classics the best.

I'm familiar with most of those- had Liz Anderson's L.P. Remember "Whisperin" Bill Anderson and his classic "8X10"? . Do you remember Skeeter Davis? Porter Wagoner and Buck Owens were a couple of my favourites too.

Has anyone noticed that Country and Western threads get ruined by conservatives that try and and turn them into political threads?

Cannuck, is expressing an opinion or posing a question ruining a thread?

Only in the minds of someone like you.

I only asked my question with CW artists like Toby Keith, Ted Nugent and Trace Adkins.

Now, tell me honestly, aren't they portrayed and attacked by the Left as rednecks and yahoos??

Reality bites, doesn't it?

Ruining a thread is trying to shut up the opposing view.

I never thought music genres were tied to any political party, but I concede there are those who might try.

When did Ted Nugent go country?
