Conservatives open up an 8-point lead over the Liberals as 70%+ Canadians don’t think the Liberal government is focused enough on the cost of living

Typical. It's OUR job to get out of YOUR way.
It is when you're fanning the funnel like that! :)
Pretty much the history of the Americas for the last half-millennium.
Sure, america is ALWAYS being blocked from doing what it wants to around the world and it never complains or pushes back ;)
You realize you guys LITERALLY invented the term 'gun boat diplomacy' right :)

Criticism of Trudeau increases in Western Canada (and ontario): poll

Sixty-six per cent (up two points) of people in Alberta, 65 per cent (up five points) in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, 57 per cent (up four points) in British Columbia and 52 per cent (up four points) in Ontario believe things would be better with someone other than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in charge.

But fewer people in Atlantic Canada (44 per cent down, eight points) and Quebec (42 per cent, down three points) favour a political change in Ottawa.
That is devistating for justin. BC is the one western province where he could win at least a FEW seats and it looks like his gains there are going to evaporate, and hes losing ontario which is death obviously. And he's currently pissing off quebec so we'll see how long that lasts.

Took 'em bloody long enough. What, are they getting their news by sailing ship around the Horn?
Often when people believe in something, it's not easy for them to let go of that even if the facts and reason has long since shown they should. This is a problem with all people of all political stripes, but it's something the left has really struggled with this last decade or so as they've had a concerted effort to put feelings ahead of facts and been pretty blatant about it.

However - now those facts are catching up in a way that simply can't be ignored. They believed justin that the books would balance themselves - and now they can't afford food. They believed that unlimited immigration without making sure we have the infrastructure to support it was fine, but now can't afford a place to live. Everything really does feel broken - they can't get medical treatment, they can't get a passport, they can't even get on a plane without it being a nightmare.

So - can't avoid it any longer. They're slowly coming around and realizing what their grandparents realized after the LAST trudeau - you simply can't afford to trust what a liberal says and facts don't care about your feelings.

Political polls are a mugs game. They are interesting, but they are just a snapshot in time & potentially very biased in their outcome, depending on the questions, asked, etc…

The Conservatives easily captured the popular vote in both the 2021 and 2019 federal elections, but fell well short of the Liberals in seat count.

1677502302704.jpegThe phenomenon is due entirely to the quirks of first past the post — an electoral system that the Trudeau government itself once promised to abolish. A disproportionate share of the Liberal caucus is MPs who were elected in ridings with close three-way ties — allowing them to enter the House of Commons with vote shares of as little as 31 per cent. Even though thousands more Canadians voted Conservative, most of that support was in deep blue ridings that would have gone Conservative anyway.

It is what it is & it’s the system that we have.

No particular policy or occurrence seems to be pushing voters into the Conservative camp. Last week’s report absolving the Trudeau government for their invocation of the Emergencies Act didn’t seem to alter anyone’s pre-existing opinion of the measure.

Similarly, government approval ratings have proved remarkably immune to a steady trickle of recent Liberal scandals (for eight years), such as revelations that Trade Minister Mary Ng handed $20,000 in “media training” contracts to a close friend.

Rather, the Liberal star seems to be fading for the age-old reason of economic hardship: Canadians are increasingly hard up for cash, and they’re blaming the party in power.
