Marriage originates from religion. Religion is was requires marriage for off-spring and sex.
For offspring usually, concubines were for sex in most cultures. This includes western cultures.
And obviously very few religions endorse homosexuality.
A majority of religions endorse or do not oppose homosexuality. A majority of the population are from religions who don't. (Ie, the main abrahamic religions oppose it, other relgions like Buddhism do not).
If you want to pass a law saying some religions are more worthy than others. Then do it, don't lie through your teeth (very blasphemous thing to do) and claim thats not what you are suggesting.
This has been a tradition in our world between 1 man and 1 woman since the beginning of man.
Where on earth did you get that one? Traditionally it has usually been
1 man and MANY women since the beginning of man.
Seriously, look it up. Read the damn bible. It tells you to engage in Polygamy many times, and never says that it is wrong once.
The concept of 1 man and 1 woman and no extra-marital sex is a modern one born out of romanticism. Homosexual marriage by comparison is a very old, very ancient custom practiced in many parts of the world.
So excuse me if I am not hot to trot to change something that has been an institution forever.
