I have no intention of discussing this issue on this thread. I could care less what your opinions are on Catholic theology. Is that plain enough for you?
You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to talk about. You don't have to answer my questions, but that doesn't mean that I can't ask them. It's up to you. Talk about whatever you want, I really don't care. If you wish to discuss, I'm all for it, if you aren't...don't. Your free to do that. But that doesn't mean I'm about to not comment, or say something, or pose a question, or point out if I feel something hypocritical has been said, or what have you. I mean, I'm just trying to do what these forums are for and discuss stuff...that's it, that's all.

Ahhhh...come on...guys...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to ruin this perfectly homophobic, hate mongering, steeped in false assumptions and moral superiority thread for y'all. Come back! It was fun! We can all gang up on westman again...those were good times, no?? Pleeeeease!

This thread was murdured in the 1st degree. I was enjoying, just reading everyone's
opinions for awhile, then, 'well, you know, happened again'.

When I visit foreign countries (may it be USA, Carribean, Europe, etc.) and tell them I am Canadian and see their revolt on their faces, I apologize for my nations politics, and I always apologize for Same Sex Marriage too.

I apologize for having guys like you...and Celine Dion. The only look of disgust I have ever gotten in any other country has to do with Celine Dion.

I dunno...I've been all through the US, England and France, and noone has ever looked at me with disgust because our nation is respectful towards homosexuals. What they say when I am not around, I dunno....but, I've never experienced a negative reaction from anyone when I said I was Canadian.

You'd be better off apologizing for your parents' marriage.

Thats was uncalled for TenPenny.
Of ALL the insults and stuff people have thrown at you in this thread, THAT is the one you say is uncalled for?

Well...let's examine this...what if someone DID say that your parents union is a horrible thing and should be apologized for? How do you think that would make them feel? How would that impact you? Do you think that is acceptable? Obviously with how you answered, it isn't. So, why is it okay to have this dick apologizing to the planet for Canada "allowing" same sex couples to marry? How do you think that affects couples that have tied the knot? Or gays in general? Same stuff, I say.

When exactly has this happened to you? I live in the US and have travelled a fair bit. Not once have I seen a look of revolt on someone's face when I told them where I was from.

Marriage originates from religion. Religion is was requires marriage for off-spring and sex.
For offspring usually, concubines were for sex in most cultures. This includes western cultures.

And obviously very few religions endorse homosexuality.
A majority of religions endorse or do not oppose homosexuality. A majority of the population are from religions who don't. (Ie, the main abrahamic religions oppose it, other relgions like Buddhism do not).
If you want to pass a law saying some religions are more worthy than others. Then do it, don't lie through your teeth (very blasphemous thing to do) and claim thats not what you are suggesting.

This has been a tradition in our world between 1 man and 1 woman since the beginning of man.

Where on earth did you get that one? Traditionally it has usually been 1 man and MANY women since the beginning of man.
Seriously, look it up. Read the damn bible. It tells you to engage in Polygamy many times, and never says that it is wrong once.
The concept of 1 man and 1 woman and no extra-marital sex is a modern one born out of romanticism. Homosexual marriage by comparison is a very old, very ancient custom practiced in many parts of the world.
So excuse me if I am not hot to trot to change something that has been an institution forever.
