Reverend Blair said:It's a racial slur around here. Maybe you need some educating though. First Nations peoples are natives. You have them in the US too. You should go talk to some. Go find a reservation, walk up to the first young man you see, and call him Tonto. Oh, get somebody to film what happens next. Maybe you can offset your hospital costs by selling the video to Jackass or something.

ROTFLMAO,
Does Hardwood ring a bell? At least the dummy would be entertainment.
Don't send the messenger, heads of state need to talk to heads of state. Seems like a slap in Canada's face to send an underling to do business. Equal to Equal.
Your are sounding a bit racist. Are you implying that a black woman is not equal in importance, nor competent enough to address the PM?
Uncle
You Sir, are the one bringing up race, I am not implying nor have I ever mentioned that due to her Race that she can not talk to the PM, but as her position in the US Govt. Race has nothing to do with it.
She is what she is. When you disrespect any black person in America, you are automatically asking for the race card to be played. Don't do it, and you won't be called on it. You should know that.
Ms. Rice is only the US Sec of State and is at the level of the Foriegn Office Minister in Ottawa. To send a person of an "inferior" office to speak to the PM on matters of Importance should take place at the Ministerial Level, Heads of State speak to Heads of State. It is a matter of Protocol that should be followed. Canada is not a vassal state of the US, it is an equal, soveriegn country and should be treated as such.
Maybe this is why Bush wasn't sent - if Canada deserves the head of state - you treat his position with respect. This whole forum has done nothing but curse the day he was born. Here is but one (of many) example, well circulated:

Make up your friggin' minds. You hate him. You want him to come and treat Canada with respect, but you want to disrespect him. Can't have it both ways now.

It appears Hank, Uncle and myself are the only ones defending Condeleezza Rice, Rev. Not one else has stepped up to the plate to support the outstanding job she's been doing as US Secretary of State.

Interesting, so black politicians shouldn't be critisized as harshly as white politicians are? Looks to me like someones prejudices are showing. I also like the part where you say
She is what she is. When you disrespect any black person in America, you are automatically asking for the race card to be played. Don't do it, and you won't be called on it.
So, your admitting that race has absolutely nothing to do with this and that it was completely inapropriate (not to mention racist) to even bring it up?
Oh and BTW, this forum is not the government of Canada, and even if they were disrespectful towards him the President should still be sent to talk to the Prime Minister, not some underling. Try imagining Canada sending the Deputy Prime Minister to see Mr.Bush and then you'll know what I mean. Your argument about respect is also BS, it's not as if Washington respects Martin much.

You are doing it again! You need to work on your comprehension skills. Under no circumstance in the US are you to EVER refer to a black person as "inferior" - in office, in appearance, in anything.
Got it? You do that here, and you will lose your job, your house,
your friends, and everything you hold dear. Unless no one heard it.
The fact that she is a black female - that's probably the very reason they are sending her. You cannot disrespect her or the diplomatic fur will fly.
