City of Vancouver says it's ready for winter (no, for real this time)

Been pretty warm so far. Lots of rain, some snow in the valley. Snowing right now in parts of Metro Vancouver, but it's not much.

Last year was unusual. It'll only take a couple of years of the normal total lack of snow and we will get back to forgetting how to deal with it. The city will be blindsided again by another unexpected storm. That's just what it's like being a Vancouverite. We simply won't believe it until we're skidding down the Oak St bridge or weaving in and out of ice bombs falling from the Port Mann.

Think of the benefits. It's not raining. Snow reduces urban noise. Hides garabage. Insulates a roof and Botswanans stand out like sore thumbs.
