I first got FF and it's bombproof extensions and add-ons for p0rn. Now it's just handy.

I don't know if it's compatible with other browsers but I dig being able to use the Ghostery extension. Never another YouTube ad again ladies and gentlemen. Never again.

Quick Update. Lately Firefox has been sucking big time and crashing on multimedia sites<No not Porno.... Hmmmph

I would suggest you might have a problem with your computer or perhaps you anti-virus program rather than the browser. I have no problems on any site and I use Firefox everywhere. I do have a very high powered computer, but my internet connection is through radio and is thus quite slow.

Haven't had any problems. My current version is 17.0.1, up two version numbers since I made post #10 above at the beginning of October, and again according to Firefox itself that's the most recent version. Task Manager reports it using about 183 Mb of memory on this site, which jumps up to 195 Mb when I start writing something, and a little more or less random checking of bookmarks shows it using around 140-145 Mb on most sites. That's all with only one tab open, I presume multiple tabs would add to it. Checking other systems in the house, which include Vista, Win7, and Win8, shows the same pattern. That doesn't seem excessive to me, but I suppose that'd depend on how much RAM a system has.

Mine is on the order of 285 (345 as I type on CC) but I also enable about a dozen live bookmarks in my toolbar and usually have multiple tabs open.

Google chrome is one of the best web browsers. Chrome is an extremely fast web browser; it loads and displays pages very quickly. It is also very safe and secure. Chrome extensions also offer various amazing themes and extensions like favourite keys, adblocker, easy mail and zero-click and etc. I am using it since 2010.

I use Chrome for all internet things and have done so for two or three years now.

I have not had a single instance of virus or malware attack nor have I had to install or download or operate any sort of anti virus software at all.

If google wants my info I consider it a fair trade (especially since they have it if they want it regardless if what i use)

Trying to maintain a Windows operating system on the internet is a waste of time and money

Firefox I have very little experience with. I found it to be slow.

Isn't plugging a business product reason for being banned? At least that was the ruling when I put in a plug for 'The Last Ride Water-Park and Crematorium.'

I've found Chrome to (inevitably) becoming more & more bloated and thus slower & slower-so I switched to Firefox which is better than it used to be but still far too slow.

So I'm back with Chrome and looking to buy a new desktop.

When it comes to chrome vs firefox, I will always choose chrome. I have used both the extensions. My reasons for choosing chrome is because:-

It gives an amazing web surfing experience by offering various amazing chrome extensions like Favourite keys, Easy Mail, Grammarly. Not only extensions, But It also works faster than firefox. It is very convenient and user-friendly to use. Also, there is a trust of google that ensures an amazing web surfing experience. I am not saying firefox is not good web browser. It is very good. But, If we compare both extensions then I will always go for google chrome.

Chrome sucks. If I have more than 1 window open it lags horribly. Often times it would just lock up to the point I'd have to reboot, even with just one page open.

I finally switched to Firefox a while back. Haven't had an issue with lag or lock ups since. While Chrome offers more than Firefox, for me at least, more is useless when the browser works like shit.

Read Google's privacy policy and check out the trade press for stories about what Google collects about you. I won't touch Chrome, won't have it on any machine on the home network. I don't search with Google either. If you value your privacy at all, the only rational attitude toward the Internet is paranoia.
I have no problem with Chrome. Very versatile. If you desire anonymity, use Duckduckgo.

just received notice that my chromebook will not be able to do updates after June.

i don't know how long I can continue using it on the internet but I have never had a cheaper more efficient computer for every day browsing. I think I paid under $300 and have used it daily for at least 3 years. I have never done anything to it. Never installed virus protection, never done any sort of update other than click an OK button.

With the end of Windows 7 (about 1/3 of all Windows machines) I would think there would be a massive surge into Chromebooks.

So easy.

BTW I also recommend the Celeron chip. Unless you are a gamer - and I am not - there is no need for fast chips. The Celeron gives me lots of performance and holds a charge all day long.
