My one time neighbor in Milford kept sheep and roosters & chickens in a suburban area,The dumb rooster only crowed near noon and you had to step carefully when you walked thru his yard....sheep poo everywhere!

So, it's my understanding that in Dubai, people do not pay taxes of any kind. Therefore, they must be the only free people in the world in that sense.

Not paying taxes, or at least paying only voluntary taxes, is a prerequisite for freedom but it doesn't mean they are free since there are other requirements too.

However, we must have laws to live by or we would abolish human kind so again - we are not really free.

I'll point out to you that you argument is the exact argument that was used to justify slavery: Everyone has a master and even the king must answer to god.

It should be unsettling to you that you just gave a 13th century argument for your own enslavement.

We are cottagers in Canada which is to say a peasant. An Earl and the King were free to own land and cottagers owned it (rented through taxes) by their grace. This is why I cringe when I hear Canadians say we are a free country. It simply isn't true. We are cottagers, that is, a nation of peasants, and that is, slaves bound by taxation.

I agree, but I'd rather think of taxation as the annual cost of "franchise". It just seems to be a healthier thought process, and less "French".
But slaves may be more descriptive if the "Franchisor" (government) doesn't get its act together soon.

Before this I suggest that we will experience a rural / urban divide.
It will begin by supply chain disruptions, then scarcity of certain things.
Little towns all over Canada right now are seeing volunteer groups form under the descriptions "Food Networks". In my town, over 60 people showed up to the first meeting.

I purposely bought 5 acres within town limits when I got my place and I'm thinking of putting my name forward to grow chickens for the townfolk by hiving off an acre for that purpose.
This chicken thing isn't about taxes or diminishing rights, all city dwellers live in a world of diminishing rights, its called for the good of all.No, this chicken thing is about supply chains and asking questions like "I wonder where my food really comes from?".
