Northern Ontario,
Not true wally. We all know that insulin and polio vaccine has the potential to destroy life as we once knew it.
We can cure the angst cliffy feels about taking his welfare cheque every month from the capitalist system he hates so much. We will enforce workfare so he has to at least pick up garbage 4 hrs a day to get any money. That would be the correct socialist way.
To be fair...as far as we know Cliffy is getting the same thing everyone over 65 is getting...... C.P.P and O.A.S.

According to what I see and hear, most folks who idolize capitalism would refer to CPP and OAS as socialism and therefor to be automatically reviled.

Systems commonly referred to as capitalism or socialism can have both advantages and disadvantages socially and economically. When any of them becomes worshipped as a rigid ideology it can result in great injustice and evil.

I myself have no knowledge or curiosity about the financial affairs of anyone on these forums (or fora :)).

OAS yes CPP/PPP no unless CPP/PPP is paid to persons not contributing into it, even then it would be debateable because it would not be paid from taxpayer's money.

May depend on your personal definitions of socialism/capitalism. My main point is that either description can include both desirable and undesirable elements and consequences.

Wishing all wage slaves a delicious winter break in a manner of your choosing. Just enjoy the chance to get off the hamster wheel.

OAS is socialism as everyone is eligible even if they are a recent arrival to Canada and never paid a dime in taxes here. CPP payout is based on how much you contributed over your working life. Never worked for wages you don't collect so definitely not socialist.
