ES - using Air Canada as an airline and Nanaimo, BC as your departure, check out a fare to Ottawa on say a Friday.
Do the same thing using Comox, BC as your departure and West Jet as your airline and check out a flight to anywhere Mexico. Using the same departure place, try almost any tourist mecca in your country.
Air Canada has been trying to go on strike for awhile now. They are rumbling again today about it.
Any short trip within Canada is usually much more expensive than going almost anywhere out of Canada. I don't travel but I do see the whole page of ads in the newspaper.

This has been the situation for quite some time now. I was a frequent flier with using Air Canada's RapidAir to fly between Toronto and montreal on a weekly basis for years and if the company hadn't picked up the tab for those trips I would have taken the "Turbo Bullet Train" when it was still running. Failing that I would have walked before they got my business. I certainly have no desire to give them any recreational business.

West Jet, Porter Air are much more viable for my puposes now in retirement and the cabin attendants even smile.

That's okay. I was not offended. I just wanted you to know that I was not complaining about the $5.50. I believe in just what I said - if the $5.50 if going to upset a trip, a person shouldn't be going anyway.

I think you thought I was making a comparison between airlines. I should have been more clear. Some companies fly out of Nanaimo and some do not. West Jet does not.
What I wanted Eagle Smack to see was the huge cost that we pay to travel from province to province (or even city to city) in comparison to how much less we pay if we fly half way across the world or at the very least, to another country.

I went from that attitude to believing obama was nothing but an empty suit..........to now believing he is much worse than that.

..I don't and have not for the past 10 plus years. The one place I used to enjoy & love was San Francisco......but even that has lost its lure now. Things change and one adapts. or as in this case, avoids completely. That includes the relatives that still reside there. (mostly in Texas and the Carolinas )

But I do beg to differ. about picking the wrong man. The alternative was simply not an option.
