THAT MAKES IT A .223 CALIBER. Small caliber gun. Max clip in Canada for center fire semi automatics is 4+1, or 5 in the clip and nothing in the chamber.

Would be nice if morons like yourself would actually research before commenting on something you know nothing about.

I use a 30-06 150 grain ammunition for hunting. You would have to be DAMN good to put a deer down at any distance with a .223 and only 62 grains.

Probably work just fine for Island deer. Especially since you can rarely see more than 100 meters through the trees.

coming from you gerry.. i consider that a compliment... :)

You shouldn't. He is stating a fact.

It's legal but we're protected by two courses. No mass shooter is going to pass two gun safety courses.

You are smarter than that. Or did you forget to use purple ink?

effective range for .223 high velocity ammo would be 400 to 600 meters (for the .308 it goes to 800m).. don't bother to aim because its basically a scatter gun, with lightweight, gas operated, magazine fed and air cooled mechanism.. and you would still will blow your deer all over the forest.

It is designed with enough punch to penetrate body armour at that range with a tumbling bullet to inflict as much damage as possible. And the in the U.S., which is the model gun nuts in Canada crave.. the max magazine capacity is 30. There is absolutely NO use in buying an AR15 with a 4 round mag.

Sorry, but the 5.56 (.223 Remington) cartridges are generally exceptionally accurate.

As for "Canadians Demanding Restrictions Lifted on the AR-15"

Talk about bad timing!

In the Barkerville museum there are two huge Grizzly bear hides. Both were killed by a little old lady using a single shot 22. Just sayin'.

Well maybe if you shot them in the eye. But i wouldn't recommend getting that close unless one had invaded your tent and was making a snack of your entrails.

The cartridges might be accurate, and exceptionally high velocity, which makes for true and straight flight. but put them through a 16" barrel limits the rifling, the velocity and the accuracy.. which makes them a scatter gun. The design is reallly intended for automatic, not semi automatic firing

For hunting purposes they are really a varmint gun. Put them in civilian hands, with humans as the target.. and its basicly for idiots.. especially NRA/2nd Amendment gun nuts, and there wanna be clones in Canada.

.

Wrong.

You should really know what you are talking about before you post.

All other things equal, shorter barrels are more accurate than longer ones. They are stiffer, which dampens barrel harmonics (vibration) making it more likely the bullet leaves the muzzle at the identical position in the standard vibration, and therefore arrives at the same place on the target.

For hunting purposes they are really a varmint gun. .

Exactly

The only people who buy AR15s are terrorists, wacko nutjobs and drooling morons.

They are utterly useless for 'home defense'.. the great mantra of the NRA. They appear regularly in the news as the weapon of choice for those who have mistakenly blown away paperboys, meter readers or their own children as home invaders. They are phallic symbols and compensatory devices for those who lack the wherewithal to settle their disputes with their fists, like real men do. Bunch of losers.

And the shorter barrels DO decrease accuracy and velocity in the AR15.

I would suggest anyone who wants a long gun get a reliable well crafted rifle, .30-06 150 grain range is versatile calibre which will do well for deer hunting, with a magazine capacity of 4, bolt action (which will force you to think and aim before you shoot).. and it will be all you ever need for rational home defense.

In fact, you'd be better off getting a good lock and calling 911 to get some professionals to handle the situation. And forget the hand gun unless you want to keep it in your tent while hunting black tail to ward off grizzly bear invasions.. they are cause nothing but trouble when aimed at people.

You don't know what you are talking about.

And the shorter barrels DO decrease accuracy (ah, no, they don't) and velocity in the AR15. (yep)

If nothing else, read this:

Barrel Length v. Accuracy Test

BTW, I AM a ****ing professional. I spent years as a firearms training officer and crew chief for an armoured car company.

If you're like Bondo, selling the idea that you need to bear arms to protect yourself from the legitimate state, your ability to have firearms should be legally suspended immediately, your firearms should be confiscated and you should be put under serveillance as a possible domestic terrorist. The asshat who killed 50 people down in Orlando was another "professional" who worked for G4S.

If that is the way that you feel about your guns, that you have them "just in case" to use against ANY of your fellow citizens under any circumstances, you have criminal intent.

You bloody moron.

I just blew every one of your points out of the water.

BTW, as well as being a firearms instructor, I also have a degree in history/political science. I sure as **** don't need any lectures on constitutional norms from a dumbass like yourself.

I'd give you chapter and verse from the guys that wrote the constitution, but you're such a ****ing idiot it would be a waste of time.

Bugger off now, Boy, you're bothering me.

You're off your noggin, sonny.

Do you live in Cannada?

Are you some sort of PTSD case or just a professional thug? Ex-forces? (get VA help, now!), Police? or perhaps a jail bird? (not much difference between the last two types). One thing is for sure. You should not be armed at all as it is clear from these and previous posts that you are mentally ill.

Its the debate without end, we concentrate on criminals while its crazy people who
commit the crimes. Keep guns out of the hands of crazy people. Criminals use
guns like carpenters use hammers. Of course we opened the doors and let the
crazy people out on to the street
