We could be employing a lot of people but we won't see Canadian steel put into pipelines, ships, rail cars or autos. It's about to be carbon taxed into oblivion but imported garbage steel from China and Vietnam won't be.

Absolutely. Every nickel paid by Govt to oil & gas as subsidies should go to wind and solar and all wind and solar tax credits be given to oil & gas who are by the way thee biggest producers of wind energy in Canada.
So if oil and gas truly are getting subsidies, they are already going to wind and nothing still going to oil.

The Quebecers by the federal government and the Canadians helped with subsidies and tax credits in recent years to promote the development of the oil sands of western Canada. I agree that tax credits and subsidies are not quite the same thing but in both cases, it mean that it is less money for governments. This requires that these policies have an objective. So what is the objectives pursued now that the industry is profitable and well developed? What is justification for this ?
THey are the only ones getting subsidies. Unless you count the massive amounts of taxpayer money that goes to Bombardier every year. That is a true subsidy. Even then Ontario subsidizes the auto industry far more by your definition of a subsidy.
One true subsidy is the rebate for buying an electric car.

Try about 80 billion in direct revenues per year for the top 3 oil companines. All other companies and spin off effects, as well as income from workers would be a pretty fantastic number
