I have no merits, it was just a case of "oooooooohhhhh, there's a cute dog on the couch on the stage!!!!!"

I don't like the song, but I'm happy that Kris is getting good publicity out of that Matt Morrison song.

And CapsuleNeo, it finally looks as if Adam is going to play Moscow. :)
Yeah, it has been confirmed that Adam will perform at the music festival "Maxidrome" in Russia next month. KORN and The Prodigy seem to be headliners. Maxidrom Has any American Idol alum performed in Russia before? I'm surprised that he has been offered to perform there.

I'm starting to worry about Cook. His first single off his new CD doesn't seem to be getting buzz. Is it even getting any radio play? I hope his 2nd era won't end up being like Archie's.

I'm not worried about Cook. The impact date on HAC is like next week or the week after. Radios have only received the song like a week ago. It's premature to worry at this point. He's already gotten quite a few adds before the impact date. Several DJs have said that they thought the song sounded like a hit.

In any case, I've decided that I wouldn't go look for numbers this time around or worry about that stuff. I don't look for these types of things for all the other artists that I like so I don't see why I would do it for David (or Kris, or any Idol I end up liking), even though fandom seems generally obsessed with this stuff.

I'm stuck at home with pretty bad back pain, so in addition to being in front of my TV at 5 in the morning watching the Royal Wedding (it wasn't planned, I couldn't sleep because of the pain), I'm catching up on my DVR and I watched The Voice and I have to say that I quite liked it. I'm team Adam Levine for now, he has the best singers so far.

I don't know if any former Idols have played Russia - I doubt it. I don't know why you're surprised, though. Adam has played a lot of other countries. By the way, people sometimes give Simon Cowell credit for "predicting" Adam would be an international star (I'm dropping the prefix, "super-," for now). But I think that, rather than being prescient, he was just aware of how Simon Fuller and 19 planned to promote Adam after the season. I always thought that. Even during S8 itself. I actually think a lot of Simon's amazing "predictions" were just things he knew about that we didn't, and learned about later. jmho

Hope you're feeling better, missaddicted. :(

I agree with you about looking for numbers. I think I've always been interested in which songs are charting - Top 40, or otherwise - and I was interested in what songs were being played on radio - on the stations I liked. I was not usually a big fan of pop, so I knew these songs sold really well, and had a lot of radio play - but I didn't know, at all, how one artist did vs. another artist. I think it's interesting but I get a bit fed up with it all, online, and how people seem to be so nerdy about it. I'm more interested in the music. Unfortunately, radio is much more generic than it used to be. We used to have a few stations in Boston everyone listened to that probably can't be easily categorized. They played the type of music most twenty-something people like to listen to, but that is not usually supported by radio any more. It's just become very corporate, commercial, and boring.

Thanks for the track list, btw.

Hope you feel better Missaddicted. I did the 5 am thing too.. but on purpose ;)

Yes. #TeamAdam He has the best peeps so far. I liked it too, the interactions were funny and the chairs turning or not turning were surprisingly suspenseful. It remains to be seen how it will all end, but Mark Burnett is producing it, and I LOVED Rockstar so it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing with music shows. He also to be honest was able to clear the best songs. :) The two I liked best were the Girl who sang Come as You Are and the Guy who sang Time After Time.

The only time I ever track the numbers for singles is for Idol people, everyone else I just enjoy the music and really don't know if I could name anyone in the band for most of them, let alone the name of their pets. LOL

Thanks guys. Can't say I'm feeling better just yet, but I'll take it slow this weekend.

The two I liked best were the Girl who sang Come as You Are and the Guy who sang Time After Time.

Yes, same for me. I'm curious to see what'll happen with Lukas Rossi too, he wasn't on the first episode.

David was playing in DC tonight. It's the Race For Hope this weekend and tonight was the concert he talked about when he was on Idol. Most of the Cook fans I follow on Twitter were actually there tonight, LOL. Aside from TLG and Paper Heart, he did two other new songs from the album, Time Marches On and Take Me As I Am. Some videos were already posted, but I'll wait until tomorrow to find the best quality ones to post here. They also did Don't You Forget About Me, the Idol boot song.

Performing at Maxidrom is not a promo by 19E. The organizer of the festival would never let a random American Idol contestant to perform. I guess Adam has already a decent sized fanbase in Russia because his two singles were radio hits there.

Some videos from last night:

Time Marches On:

YouTube - David Cook - Time Marches On - Washington DC

I like it. His voice sounds divine on it. I still think it sounds pretty generic though, not super original.

Take Me As I Am:

(Yes, I deliberately copied-pasted my previous comment.)

Why so many power ballads, David?

Don't You Forget About Me:

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that the concert appearance was a promo by 19E. What I meant was that Adam has been promoted internationally, and that would probably lead to his being known more in Russia than other idols. He did promo tours in Europe and Asia, and also played concerts there. Russia is in both Europe and Asia, so it seems to me that, if he and his music are known and liked in parts of Europe and Asia, the Russians would have been more likely to have heard of him.

Of course, it's also possible that his management or label had to do with his radio presence in Russia. That they did something to encourage or promote that. I don't know. They do that in the US, so why not in other countries?

As for the concert - it could be that his label is looking for concert opportunities in Russia, and got him into the lineup. It also could be that the Russians contacted his management and asked that he play a concert due to fan interest. I don't know. I don't think it matters, as long as he got the gig.

I know one thing - taking your band and crew to Russia, to play a set in one concert, is not cheap, so whoever is paying for it thinks it's worth it.

Today is the birthday of Tim "The Situation" Urban.

^ That's Tim's twitter avi. Hence my little joke about his abs. heh. (This photo kind of reminds me of those ads in the Boston Phoenix that usually begin, "Why be the only lady at that function without a date?")

Didi Benami gave him something:

Aww! That's cute. (Kinda looks like a chihuahua took a crap on it, though.)

I can't hear this. Please tell me if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Kthxbye!

Re David's songs..

(lol) Truthfully though I did like it and his voice IS great. I think they will work really well on radio provided radio picks them up to play.

and Tim. Well he's adorable and he didn't sound horrible, but that's kinda my opinion on Tim. Yeah, probably not buying the album.

Chattanoogans weigh in on AI...four Idol watchers and their tastes are profiled at the end - I thought it was interesting. These people are all between 58 and 71 years old.

Re the article... who picks Randy as their favourite judge? :) But yay Kris! Also the comment - lmao. Oh, those crazy power voters. Clearly everyone else's power voters were more motivated than Casey's power voters.

Haha. Well, did you notice the person who picked Randy has never watched before this season? I think if I never watched before, I might have to choose Randy, too - it's slim pickins.

That comment was bizarre - 20 votes in five minutes? That's four votes a minute. That's no better than regular phone voting. Probably worse, considering you have redial. I'm sure I've put in more than 20 votes in five minutes, on the old house phone, here.

I want to weigh in on something - all this, "it doesn't matter if you win Idol" talk, I keep a-hearin' about. Let's ask Tim Urban if it matters to win - or Didi - or Siobhan. Would they object to a record contract, a single promoted to radio, concert tours, etc.? I doubt it very much. And this applies to the vast majority of non-winners from all the seasons. Even some very talented ones.

Even Archie, who's popular - would he have been worse off if he won? - even if the franchise ended up promoting Cook more? Or, would Cook have been better off had he not won? I can't see how. Seems to me winning is pretty important. The rest is a lot of talk. Oh, on occasion - but very infrequently - Idol, for whatever reason - likes promoting other people. But even then, the winners have usually done much better than most of their fellow contestants. So is it important to win? I'd say yes. What do you think?

Winning vs. not winning.

I'd say that winning always guarantees you a certain amount of success. Sure some non-winners been able to break-out even more than some winners - but really the odds are better if you do win. Plus you can always break out the snazzy title. Who doesn't love that thing?

The Last Goodbye got 8 HAC adds on add date. It is #906 on itunes single chart right now :|. They need to release it to pop radio to have a huge sales, tbh. Hopefully that'll happen soon.
