I'm going to be honest, I never really knew what number had the bagpipes. I probably was asleep.

I just was put in moderation at MJ's for writing the following:

"I agree with every word, Elliegrll."

That was my post, in its entirety.

She (Elliegrll) wrote a great post. It was a pro-Kris post, of course. Apparently, she wasn't supposed to make the post, so I got put in moderation for agreeing with it.
Oops.

Any news about Kris's video shoot?

You are a rebel. Must have been a good post.

No news on the video shoot except for the fact that the girl in the video is a friend of Jackie Tohn which I find interesting and she's got a date for re-shoots sometime before the end of the month. And the latest post at MJ's mentions a scheduling conflict with Marco and that LLWD's DP of photography was taking over for TT - so that's Aaron if it's true and then it all makes sense again re the confusion over the director.

Reshoots. Before end of month. Okay, got it. Maybe the video will be out by Christmas.

Do you think Kris was in LA on Monday for the video? And were they shooting it (without the girl)? I hope he didn't have to fly there for nothing.

Someone tweeted that they shopped next to him at Urban Outfitters.. *fingers crossed* new jacket! LOL

(kidding, and I'm creeped out that I know this)

Yeah, I'm thinking Christmas too. *sigh* honestly Kris and Hedley released their CD's on the same day. Hedley's on their 4th single, and filmed 3 videos. (of course they haven't sold 1.5 million singles, and done a million interviews.. but still)

Hedley is more established and aren't doing the constant performing/publicity that Kris is, though. Also being more established they can sort of throw any video together and their fans will love it. Kris has more riding on any video at this point.

Hedley also benefits from the Canadian Content rule. Radio stations are probably thrilled they can play all these singles that are popular and still meet CanCon criteria.

But still - yeah - they sometimes seem overly careful/cautious, and perfectionistic, where Kris is concerned. I do think releasing a lot of singles is a good idea. I noticed that Taio Cruise has a new single out and it seems his last one just came out.

That's true the cancon thing helps for sure. For video making and video play.

I kinda wish they'd have plotted out some time to make this video though before now. Like come on... It's frigging July already. LOL

Oh, yeah, I forgot. There's some kind of subsidization, isn't there?

Like I just wrote on MJ's blog (answering all the Adam fans who are so 'concerned' about Kris's video), it was probably hard to coordinate a time when Kris, the director, the personnel, Cindy Vela, and Pat Monahan were available at the same time. And then there's the remote location. Someone brought up Adam. So I pointed out all three of his videos were shot in LA. The last one was shot in Griffith Park. There's a famous Hollywood quote, "A tree is a tree. Shoot it in Griffith Park." (In other words, don't waste time/money on location shooting.) WWFM was shot cheaply on a couple of sets.

Not that that matters. But I don't get how Jive is not supposed to care, when they seem to be making a big, creative video out in the desert someplace. I'm sure Jive could have rushed out a cheapo video, or they could have just shot in the rain last week and let it go at that. Well, you don't need to read my MJ's post now! That was basically it.

I read that (Slezak) this afternoon and I was kind of surprised. I wasn't surprised he felt that way, but I was surprised he was that blunt. In a way it makes his previous season's tour reviews seem more valid. People have accused him of being a softy, but maybe not.

OMG, that's funny that Sleazak was so anti-tour. The world is upside down. I think Jim got a lot of his snark out during the season, he's in the acceptance phase now. Hard to keep kicking them when they are already down.

Jim and Slezak are both nice guys. I notice Slezak wears several hats. He's sometimes a critic, sometimes an interviewer, sometimes a fan. He has his critic hat on when he goes to concerts. Jim doesn't really write the in-depth critiques Slezak does. I think he could get away with the lighter-weight, positive recap.

Thanks, I was debating whether to watch that interview when it was posted by girlygirl. Then I forgot about it. I don't really watch or listen to all of Kris's interviews. I'll go watch this one now.

Boy, those Adam fans on MJ's, though. All they do is find things wrong with Kris's career and alternate that with comments about how wonderful Adam is doing.

oh, and Brian Melo's new song Anywhere But Here was on tonight's Degrassi episode. Cool

Kris says that David voted for him to win.. but that Daniel made him. LOL

I'm okay with the pace of Kris's career (not the pace of the video release schedule, or the state of his website and promo) but the actual career. I think following the normal path of playing smaller scale places and opening for other bands is a normal healthy thing to do for any band. It's Alright with me, alright with me.

That's good about Brian Melo. I wonder if he's signed with a new label yet?

I wonder how Daniel even knew David Cook? This stuff is weird sometimes.

Kris's career is fine, I just meant these people will seize on anything they can, twist it into something negative, and beat the rest of us over the head with it.

As for the video, I really hadn't given it a lot of thought. Once it was 'on,' for the 15th, I was excited. When it was delayed, it was frustrating, but, hey, it rained. What can you do about that? Once it rained, and the video was delayed, everyone seemed to start blaming Jive for taking so long.

People say all of this is a sign Jive doesn't believe in Kris, or the song. Um, then why are they doing a video? And why are they taking the time to do the video right?

By the way, Kris's old interview was good. When he was talking about living in LA temporarily, but making their home base Arkansas, I thought, "Gee, that's exactly how it ended up." That impressed me. Because he seems to know what he wants, which seems mature.

Hey, I forgot about Australia. Not only didn't he get to go, they never released his album or his single(s) there. Adam got that (trip, album release, singles release), Kris didn't. I wonder when/why they decided Kris wouldn't get to be a star in Australia.

Mention of DH again (by MJ this time):

Tonight, Adam Lambert and his Glam Nation tour roll into McMenamins Crystal Ballroom in Portland OR. Allison Iraheta and Orianthi will be the openers. The show begins at 8 pm PDT.
Smeggingnuts is at the show tonight, and will try to bring our elusive little friend DH to the concert tonight.

Does the name "smeggingnuts" gross you out a bit? Just saying.

That's what I thought too. They know exactly what they want. cool.

The rain thing.. I don't blame Jive for that. I mean stuff happens. And who know they might know exactly what they're doing timing wise with the video. They certainly timed things nicely with LLWD.

the Australia thing bums me out a bit but truthfully him not coming to Canada bums me out more. :) I don't know why they didn't at the very least release the album in Australia. weird. Plus the total absence of press outside of the US. grr!

Smeggingnuts reminds me of the TV show Red Dwarf actually. They say smeg a lot. So I wonder if they're a fan. LOL

The DH linked to a ustream channel.. Digital Handheld? LOL I don't know... ???

Is there a total absence of press outside the US? I guess so, I never thought of that. After Kris went to the Philippines and those other Asian locations, I was hoping there would be more. I know he was talking about England, but that also didn't happen. Funny, I think he'd do great there, for some reason. Maybe because he's so authentically American and they seem to like American culture so much. I think if Kris was given the publicity chances Adam has been given (as well as the wider release of his music) he might surprise a lot of people.

The only thing wrong with Kris's career right now, as far as I'm concerned, is that not enough people know about him, or hear about him, or hear his music. I'm pretty much convinced that to know him is to like him.

Yeah, Red Dwarf. I just read about that here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smeg_(vulgarism)

Digital handheld. Hey, maybe that's it.

Now that I think about it, the EP Kris was talking about didn't happen, either. Maybe a lot owas riding on his album sales proving he could sell music. I don't know. Who really knows?

One other thing. Remember, a long time ago, after his album came out, he was writing/recording something with a girl singer? Do you remember who that was? What became of what they did together?

Um, one other thing. I still don't know how the Kris/BNL thing is working out. Here's a tweet from a BNL fan at the concert tonight:

mlodick just realized I accidentally came to a Kris Allen concert tonight. well, sh*t. at least there's a bar to help pre-BNL

Sarcasm or intolerance about other musicians, seems to be the attitude of some BNL fans. Maybe I'm wrong (I hope) but I somehow don't think this will be the attitude of the fans of some other acts Kris has opened for.
