You need to book a room at that hotel.. I hear it has a great roof-top pool..

Or that, LOL! Yeah, drive back to Boston from Maine to go stay at that hotel and then you can go back to Maine for the rest of your vacation!

Haha. But you still can't get in unless you win tickets! Maybe if the room was on one of the higher floors, I could go out on a ledge and climb up the side of the hotel to the roof.

I just read on mj's blog that some of the girls from ontd_ai won tickets. Not just one girl, but "a few". Those chicks manage to get into everything. How do they do it? (By the way, judging from all the people who I heard on the radio winning tickets, there won't be any men in the audience at all unless they're dates.) The upside of this is that there will probably be video.

Hope Kris is over his cold because it's supposed to be chilly tomorrow night.

Did you guys know that the word is Kris will only be doing four songs tomorrow? David Gray is doing seven. Well, that's the rumor. That makes it seems like Kris is the opener. Though it hasn't been promoted that way.

It kinda makes sense though. For sure, David Gray has more material than Kris to perform. I don't think Kris would have had the time to prepare seven songs for example.

So was this event in the afternoon? I don't know why I thought it was at night.

I wonder where Kris will be staying until his interview monday morning in New York?

ETA: Was there an interview where he talked sports? People are referring to it elsewhere.

I thought it was a night thing too. Lol - shows what great fans we are. We would have gotten there too late to do any good.

I think he's already left for New York. Someone mentioned that he was catching a plane, and Jim Cantiello tweeted that he'd be interviewing Kris "shortly" Today - tomorrow, monday I don't know when he meant but I'm pretty sure Kris is off to New York or back in LA. NY makes more sense though..

I think he must have talked sports at the interview. I haven't really heard too much about the interview portion. Just the dancing, and someone asked him to play the new song.

Thanks, SleepinIn.

What was that about? The beginning is cut off in the video. Why were they dancing?

Oh, that's this one - sorry I forgot to put it in there. A little girl asked him about the disco they did on the show that Paula choreographed. He said that they did it all over the Idol mansion - So Kris and the host demonstrated. lol

and another version..

Yay for videos, these are awesome! Man in the Mirror was especially gorgeous. Thanks for posting them here SleepinIn!

And Kris is having a twitter party right now!

Too bad I went to bed. :(

That interview was great. (I'll check out the twitter party -- or, as we say around here, twittah pahty -- pretty soon). I had a great feeling after watching Kris with the crowd and the DJs during that Q and A. He's got to be making friends and fans wherever he goes. He's awesome, a really charming guy.

Thanks, that was a better clip. Kris still sounds hoarse (when he talks at the end).
I keep wondering if his voice is okay after all the loud singing on tour -- which I don't think he ever did before (sing loud, for weeks). I was kind of worried about that all during the tour. I'm assuming he still has a cold.

Michael Slezak article:

Kara DioGuardi: Should we give her a clean slate to start her second season of 'American Idol'? (Probably not, but...) | EW.com

Also, he's live-blogging during the Emmys. I never watch the Emmys. The reason is, I don't watch any TV series. I think I may watch for the AI noms, though. The Lambert fans on mj's are still not happy about the 'winning moment' episode being included in the viewers'-choice category. Reliving the pain.

I think he does have a bit of a cold still. Thankfully, it sounds like it's clearing up.

LMAO - reliving the pain. Seriously. 'Cause Adam will never recover from it... *sigh* it's all just so tragic. I like the fact that the moment is one of the three moments that are the finalists. I don't even care if it wins or not. And i'm like super excited for the single to be out and another MTV interview with Jim.. and then he can play the single live since it's not a secret anymore....

I too hold out hope that Kara has learned that in Tv judging more words - do not mean a better critique. This is Idol. There is no time for sublte. She did have some good ones last year though.. she pulled through on Falling Slowly.. we got a "That is Artistry", I'm taking a wait and see approach on Kara.

Did you read the Chris Sligh advice to Season 8 contestants blog? I thought he had a lot of really great advice. It's something, I think applies to all the CI's even the winner and certainly applies to the AI peeps too. The show is a platform but it's a tv show -- when you think about how hard Kris, Adam and Allison are still working.. the others should be doing the same thing. Even if it's on a smaller scale.

a friend of mine has been discussing Idol and it's ramifications on the music industry here.

Ellen Degeneres, Misconceptions and American Idol – Revisited | AWmusic

I don't always agree with her, but she is one smart cookie about the music industry and it makes really interesting reading.

Actually I didn't read Chris Sligh's advice. I don't really know him. My knowledge of music has some big gaps, not to mention my knowledge of Idol.

I read your friend's article, and the one she was responding to (though I didn't read her original article). Interesting stuff. Which point of view do you agree with more, SleepinIn?

Unrelated question: When do the Emmys come on, anyway? (I hate awards shows.)

ETA: About Kara. None of the people on the panel are good judges, in my opinion.
At least not in the Top 12 episodes. They're more like critics. I suppose this is because once the Top 12 is chosen the judges are really no longer of any importance. So instead of being able to decide who will move on, they try to influence our vote with their critiques, and manipulate the competition to reflect their agenda(s). Rather than actually offer expert professional judgements of performances based on technique, etc.

I don't know why, but somehow I thought they were adding a fourth judge in order to represent a kind of departure from this formula. That Kara would be the judge who would be kind of the "articulate music industry expert" -- and maybe have no agenda, and be neutral and sort of above the fray. I based that assumption on this: having seen the other three operate, occasionally, over the years, I just figured TPTB would add someone who would be really different from them. Else, why bother adding anyone?

The fact was that she was like a slightly less ditzy Paula, and a slightly less shallow Randy. And she didn't seem any brighter or more insightful than them because she wasn't too articulate, herself. So you had a panel of three useless judges and Simon. I don't happen to think he's all that great, either. But I think he tries hard to surround himself with people who come across like those three, so that he'll look like some kind of genius in comparison. How else can you explain that in the whole music industry they can't find better judges than Randy, Paula, and Kara?

But I was never against her and I did think she deserved a chance. She actually seems like a nice person, so I didn't like to see her get bashed. And I'm willing to give her another chance.
