Canadian Idol Fans Watching American Idol

Emmy's are on now -- not so funny for the comedy portion of the show. So far the best part is that they've shown the AI clip multiple times. And they keep refering to it as "Kris Allen wins American Idol". LOL Which might be driving some people nuts. -- I'm okay with that though. (tee-hee)

I'm more on the opposing view point to her original post. But, she does have some excellent points - and she really does know a LOT about the music industry and just music in general. And she clarified a lot of things in the rebuttal. I'm still somewhere in between the two to them opinion wise though.

I keep looking back in the thread to find that link to vote for this Emmy thing, and can't find it again. Grr...

[ETA: I found it.]

...and I noticed that Jemma linked to a mention of Sebastian in Becoming Erika (thanks, Jemma), and that there was a mention of Lil calling Kris her Poo Poo.
I haven't watched that yet.

(Not as much time while I'm away to look at stuff or to post, sorry.)

Thanks, SleepinIn. I think this is the third time you've had to give me that link. Am I getting on your nerves, yet? 8O

Grey Gardens. You guys should see that original documentary sometime (if you haven't). Those ladies were ka-razy.

I just watched Lil call Kris her Poo Poo. I suddenly (just now) had a thought: she may be saying Pooh-Pooh (as in Pooh bear).

He directed Adam Lambert! Which means he spoke to him. Maybe he even touched him!!! And now Bruce Gowers was on my TV screen! And I touched the screen while he was on. Which is almost like me touching Bruce Gowers, right? So since he might have touched Adam, that's almost like me touching Adam, right?!! Oh please say it is!

You know something, though? I think Bruce Gowers has had a bad rap from the blogospere (I never used that word before). (And, hopefully, never again.)

If he wasn't a good director, we wouldn't have enjoyed that damn show so much.
(Unless you agree with the Grassy Knoll theories that they put people in the dark and use bad cutting when they want to eliminate them. See: Allen, Kris; Rock Week.)

The show ran over? So? It ran over! You're supposed to be watching a show live, not DVR-ing it. Maybe it was good direction to let the show run over and include every last overblown bit of whatever that performance was by the overrated guy who wore all the makeup.

But seriously, the time overages didn't ever bother me, and I don't even know if the director can be blamed for them. There isn't much on TV that's live, these days. It's almost like people are so used to the overmanipulated, pre-cut, pre-packaged nature of TV, that they can't appreciate the beauty of live TV. Which is not about perfection!

I tend to think he deserved that award for the Rock Week episode. Pulling the show together and making it go after the disastrous dress rehearsal.

Oops, back again for a second. A lot of posts on mj's, lately, about Kris needing to take voice lessons (including from his fans). I responded to these because I tend to dislike trained voices. And I don't think Kris needs voice lessons (which will probably only make him a self-conscious singer). I feel bad for the guy, being in the Idol situation, because if he was the lead singer of a band like the Fray, or if he was Jacob Hoggard, or Chris Martin, etc., etc,. somebody with hit songs on the radio, nobody would be suggesting he needs voice lessons. He does not need to be an "Idol singer." He doesn't need to sing songs unsuited to his voice. His beautiful voice is perfectly suited to the type of music he wants to do. Leave it (and him) alone.

Yes, see it's okay that he didn't win. And I totally agree, purity of voice has never been a condition over which I choose one artist over another. (not even on AI) When I listen to him sing I don't care about clarity - I just want him to keep singing.

ack.. my purity, clarity.. doesn't make sense. I just mean that when I listen to music it isn't about the notes that are hit, but about how the notes make me feel. Does that make sense?

Not that I don't think Kris can hit notes - because I really think he has a great voice, but having range isn't the be all and end all. And this isn't to say that hitting those notes a la Adam couldn't be just as affecting. It really is all about how they are used in the song.

LOL - Love Andrew Cook.

ACookOfficialHave I told you how stupid vampires are? If not. . .VAMPIRES ARE STUPID!!!!

Purity or clarity? I don't really understand these terms, I guess. What do you mean? Just curious.

Just caught up (LOL, I almost wrote "catched up" which, no) with you two. You've been watching the Emmys, I've been watching our own TV awards, the Gemeaux (the equivalent to the Geminis, I guess). I don't really watch any of the shows that win Emmys. Though I want to watch 30 Rock. Did it win? I LOVE Tina Fey and want to be her when I grow up.

So the winning moment lost? Did Obama win? I don't know what were the other choices. And Bruce Gowers won? LOL! But you have good points ross. I wonder what Slezak said about that...

I have to read your friend's article SleepinIn (and yes this is more a memo to myself not to forget reading it!).

Tomorrow. "Live Like We're Dying". Yes? Yes! I'm excited!

I think 30 Rock won.. they gave a speech anyway. Alec Baldwin had the best speech though.. Rob Lowe presented the award to him and he said he'd give it up to look like Rob.. lmao.

True Blood won - which is why Andrew hates vampires. :)

and YES!!! I'm Super excited too!!!! multiple !!!! required.

About Being Erica, Oliver tweeted today that the new season was starting this Tuesday and to watch out for Sebastian. I've never watched the show, but maybe I'll check it out if it's to see pretty (and talented too) Sebastian.
