Considering how deadly - yes, deadly - it can be when you are a trans person, good on the PM for this.

While the US has thrown the issue big time into the public eye, it's very similar to trans people in Canada as well.

What's the %age of "T" people? Hard to get a good idea when a) there was no census asking about it before and b) getting people to admit it comes with other considerations other than just "I'm Trans, yay me!"

How many here know anyone who is Transgender, out of curiosity? Or, for that matter, any of the other gender types? Have you heard their stories? Heard how hard it is even now for society to just accept them? How a lot of Trans people just want to be themselves, but still don't dare let anyone know they are Trans out of fear? THIS is why this is happening.

Smoke screen for the TPP? Personally I hope not because the TPP is a HORRIBLE thing that needs to die, violently. But the protection of trans people is important and to think otherwise is just unreal to me.

Yeah, I know someone who is transgender. In fact, I'm the one that took the time off work and flew him to QC on my dollar for both his consultation and his gender reassignment surgery. I did it for two reasons. 1) He was the brother of a good friend of mine, and 2) If you had seen him when he was 14-15-16, the first thought that would likely have popped into your head( or anyone else's) is "That poor kid should have been born a girl." And that was about 20 years ago.
I also have/had several friends who are gay. Don't really give a sh*t that they are, either.


However, as I said previously, this is just Trudeau grandstanding. Every citizen is already protected from hate speech. It's the same with drunk driving and the new distracted driving laws. Either of those was adequately covered by reckless, careless or dangerous driving. But in order to make it look the govt was doing something about it, they created two new laws that were virtually pointless.
This is just another example of that. And it's been designed to distract us from the other sh*t the govt is doing, or not doing as the case may be.

Incredible really that this is so important to JT!! Why not put some thought and process in place before prosecuting anybody. The Liberals are doing huge blunders, look at weed, still without any rules and regulations, it's a huge mess !! I personally do not want to see a huge man (if he still has a *****, he's a man) standing next to me and my 6 yrs old in the woman's bathroom at pool bathrooms, club or anywhere. Some women walk around with robes & some nude, but I'm not prepared to let my little girl see naked men. When they've had the full procedure done and are fully woman, then yes 100% they have to use woman's change rooms/ bathroom, same as when a female to male transgender has completed the hormone program, they need to use mens bathrooms. I knew we were in trouble with JT, but I was hoping some experience on the hill would put some sense into him. I was wrong, it will get worst.

I'm going to take a stab at a guess as to numbers. Assuming
there are are as many as 1000 Transgender peoples in the
nation, then we're talking about an issue that affects about
1/34,000th of the population, that is already protected. Just
trying to offer some perspective.
