For those of you who actually worry about things like the economy....

I don't know why you bother but here's some good news for yous

Canada in a 'very good fiscal situation' to run deficits, says Poloz

Canada is in a very good fiscal situation and should not be worried about running up deficits at this point, Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz said in a television interview aired on Sunday.

The comments support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his year-old Liberal government, which is set to run a deficit of $29.4 billion in the current fiscal year as it pours money into infrastructure and a tax credit for families.

Pressed in an interview with Global on whether there is a danger to running budget deficits, Poloz said Canada is a long way from that point.

"There is a balance somewhere but I can tell you that I think we're pretty far away from that balance point," Poloz said in an interview with Global's The West Block with Tom Clark.

"Now you're right, there is a balance point in all this but Canada is in a very good fiscal situation so we shouldn't be worrying about that at this time," he said.

ROFLMFAO. Thanks to PM Harper Canada is in fairly good financial shape. trudOWE will soon change that and turn us into a have not country with a balance sheet like Greece. But that's OK because our grandkids will pay dearly for our excessive squandering today.

They can't print dollars without Govt accepting liability.

By the time the bills come due trudOWE will be gone from government and someone else will be stuck cleaning up the Liberal mess again. ANd getting flack from the entitled generation when they discover there is no more money for their real and imaginary entitlements.

Who cares what you think? Take a pill.

Oil money and a dollar being worth a dollar was paying for all the new infrastructure quite nicely.

Maybe Polozo knows something about pipelines and terminals being up and running sooner than we think.

BTW in the past 4 years 60,000 shiny new rail oil tankers have hit the lines.

Fine by me too.

Trudeau never changed taxation ya stupid Smurf.

Name some new infrastructure announced by Trudeau.

It's all still ActionPlan.

You really should take a remedial reading course. Where in my post does it say anything about taxation under the Liberals? As for infrastructure spending it is outlined right in the federal budget, but I guess as usual you did not bother to fact check your post.

Giving ten billion dollars to developing nations is building infrastructure how ?

Made that number up didn't you? In fact Canada's foreign aid budget is $5.8 billion this year. And foreign aid is separate from infrastructure spending, not part of it.

Not really. I think MF actually does more to hurt the image of the LP than any of the other posters. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your political allegiance, it doesn't really m matter because a huge bulk of Justin's support comes from those under 30 and that age group doesn't do forums like this. Hell, I'm 50 and I see little political value in this site

You are right there. I dropped out of this site for four years and when I returned I was surprised to see how little it had changed. There is almost no new blood and a handful of members account for 90% of the posts; in fact I suspect a couple of them are running a competition to see who can start the most threads. It is one of the reasons why I don't bother checking the site every day.

What a coincidence. My accountant recently told me that I was in very good financial position to keep running up my credit card faster than I am paying it off.

I am pretty certain that I could do a lot worse than ignore his recommendations.

All that really means is we will follow Trump's lead when he takes the reins in the US. Trump will follow Putin's path without the build up of weapons of war.

Hey Smurfette....you never wrote this?

One of the major differences between the Trudeau government and the Harper government is that most of the current deficit is being caused by infrastructure spending while most of the Harper's deficits were caused by tax breaks to the wealthy. In the long term infrastructure spending helps the country in a variety of ways, while tax breaks to the wealthy rarely if ever provide any benefits except to those who receive them.

Too bad you don't live somewhere where they are proactive rather than reactive.

Justin was just shunned by a whole group of youth about something called "jobs"... I guess he was expecting them to talk about pot....

But unemployed youth don't know what they are talking about, and Trudeau is a genius when it comes to the economy.

Sadly there were no selfies to be taken..

Just heard on the news that B.C. is the worst province in B.C. when it comes to poverty. Welfare rates haven't increased in almost 10 years.
