Canada in a 'very good fiscal situation' to run deficits, says Poloz
Canada is in a very good fiscal situation and should not be worried about running up deficits at this point, Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz said in a television interview aired on Sunday.
The comments support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his year-old Liberal government, which is set to run a deficit of $29.4 billion in the current fiscal year as it pours money into infrastructure and a tax credit for families.
Pressed in an interview with Global on whether there is a danger to running budget deficits, Poloz said Canada is a long way from that point.
"There is a balance somewhere but I can tell you that I think we're pretty far away from that balance point," Poloz said in an interview with Global's The West Block with Tom Clark.
"Now you're right, there is a balance point in all this but Canada is in a very good fiscal situation so we shouldn't be worrying about that at this time," he said.

They can't print dollars without Govt accepting liability.
fifyWho cares what you think? Take a pill.
Trudeau never changed taxation ya stupid Smurf.
Name some new infrastructure announced by Trudeau.
It's all still ActionPlan.
Giving ten billion dollars to developing nations is building infrastructure how ?
Not really. I think MF actually does more to hurt the image of the LP than any of the other posters. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your political allegiance, it doesn't really m matter because a huge bulk of Justin's support comes from those under 30 and that age group doesn't do forums like this. Hell, I'm 50 and I see little political value in this site
What a coincidence. My accountant recently told me that I was in very good financial position to keep running up my credit card faster than I am paying it off.For those of you who actually worry about things like the economy....

So we are only adding 5.4 billion to our children's debt , for foreign aid . Excuse me .You really should take a remedial reading course. Where in my post does it say anything about taxation under the Liberals? As for infrastructure spending it is outlined right in the federal budget, but I guess as usual you did not bother to fact check your post.
Made that number up didn't you? In fact Canada's foreign aid budget is $5.8 billion this year. And foreign aid is separate from infrastructure spending, not part of it.
You are right there. I dropped out of this site for four years and when I returned I was surprised to see how little it had changed. There is almost no new blood and a handful of members account for 90% of the posts; in fact I suspect a couple of them are running a competition to see who can start the most threads. It is one of the reasons why I don't bother checking the site every day.

Just heard on the news that B.C. is the worst province in B.C. when it comes to poverty. Welfare rates haven't increased in almost 10 years.
