You know what happens to your memory as you get older?Yep, people excel in the areas they are interested in. Some excel in areas they are not because it's a prerequisite to better things they want. Some people don't know how to study effectively (of which I'm probably one) There are other factors that contribute to intelligence- I've never regarded myself as being exceptionally intelligent but one asset I had as a young person was an almost flawless memory, now I can't remember what I did two days ago LOL As far as I'm concerned wisdom is much more important than intellect.
I explained it to my superintendent about amonth before I retired.....when he wanted me to train on a new piece of machinery that had just been installed and which I had just started (It was actualy his sneaky way to get me to train others, because you can refuse to train others but not to get trained yourself)
Anyway I told him that the human brain is like a computer hard drive (They didn't make them too big back then)
I also told him that at my age, the hard drive was getting pretty near full, and in orther to learn something new...I would have to delete something else;-) By then he was listening intently wondering where I was going
Now what if I delete something important like I'm retiring next month and don't need no bloody training...
He left my work station and I never heard about it again:lol:
