By Their Fruit

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!" (Matthew 7:15-23 NIV)

"I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments." (Colossians 2:4 NIV)

How many soup kitchens do you work at Dexter. How do you know what she does in life or what motivates her? You don't.
I don't work at any soup kitchens. Is that the measure of charitable giving and concern for others? I do other things, in line with what matters most to me. There are a million worthy causes, I can't help them all, so I choose my charitable targets carefully. I didn't claim to know what she does in life or what motivates her, I just identified one thing, based on the nature of her posts and the attitude she displays, that I don't believe is among her motives. If she wants to dispute that, instead of just citing scripture at me again, she's certainly free to do so. She doesn't need you to leap to her defense with vapid irrelevancies.

Bull. If you ain't ladling soup, you JUST DON'T CARE!

It is worth noting that Jesus never turned water into soup. But I bet his mom did.

"As Jesus was having a meal in Levi’s home, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the experts in the law and the Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, 'Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?' When Jesus heard this he said to them, 'Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:15:17 NIV)

Be a better pic if the Church didn't intentionally cause those woes just so they can appear useful.

Booze addicts are said to make progress using magic mushrooms or peyote or mescalin. I get the disease just so I could get the cure, who said that and get away from my keyboard.

"All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord." (Proverbs 16:2 NIV)

You present a valid point, LL. Discernment of motives belongs to the Divine.

"Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God." (1 Corinthians 4:5 NIV)

You don't know a winery when you see it. How many homes has a whole bunch of 'barrels', empty at that, so is that how many had been drank at the wedding?

Joh:2:6:
And there were set there six waterpots of stone,
after the manner of the purifying of the Jews,
containing two or three firkins apiece.
Joh:2:7:
Jesus saith unto them,
Fill the waterpots with water.
And they filled them up to the brim.

1 firkin = 40 liters so the volume was 80 or 120 liters. 120 x 6= a whole lot of wine.

Mary the moonshiner, wow. The maids in her kitchen probably had a lot of spices available.
