What's good for the goose isn't good for the gander???

I'm not seeing much difference between the USA and Russia on this issue. Is this a matter of "the Pot calling
the Kettle black" or am I missing something here?

Perhaps we should be looking to our friends in dealing with Russia.

the Russian PM today said Russia should stake out its sovereignty in the Artic ASAP.

That would be on Canadian territory.......or, I should say, in Canadian waters.

HAHA I would be surprised if the Russians want Hudsons bay etc, if they want a zone extending up from their territory to the pole that is PERFECTLY fine

It's funny how hard the Cons want the cold war back, anything with the word "russia" in it is some looming shadow.

I love watching the cons live out their paranoid,fear-filled lives publically like this- shoting down any theory that would make the west seem suspect with reckless abandon, but always at the ready to breathe life into ridiculous spectres like Russia and woe to all who doubt

Oh man I should go outside and get some more fresh air, comedy this golden is not meant to be taken in large doses

Are our Friends doing anything different than the Russians are doing? How does this
differentiate from America in Iraq? It seems like a "We can, you Can't" sort of thing?
Am I missing something? Aren't our Friends also claiming a chunk of the Arctic and
is that chunk on Canadian territory? I'm looking for some perspective...

Personally, I'd rather that the USA and Russia "played nice" with each other, as once this
p*ssing match escalates, the direct path between the two of them happens to be directly
over my head, and yours. It does seem like their motives and actions lately are very much
alike, and the perception of their actions depends on which side of the fence (politically
and/or geographically) you happen to be on.

From the ouside looking in (and hopefully not up anytime soon), can it be that the USA and
Russia have goals for themselves that are similiar to each other, so that these two giants
are too much alike to "play nice" together for too long?

Ron- personally, I think the US wants to own the whole game- how close are the nearest Russian military installations to the US?? How many wars is Russia involved in, in what proximity to their own territory??

That's as far as I have to look to begin thinking that Russia is NOT the threat it has been made out to be in recent times, there's simply NO balance, force-deployment-wise

I got about a paragraph and a half through the link and I stopped, as it's just the same load of crap as usual, with no substance except the usual unfounded propaganda.

Rice should point her finger straight up her ass

Jesus, you are a good little soldier aren't you.

So somehow your statement does not make the U.S. hypocrites? Oh I forgot, you have difficulties with that word, must be to short for an intelectual elite to understand.

Anyways, perhaps we need to find new friends since yours are looking at the artic as well. I would imagine however that you and the cons would just hand it over.
