Socialist drivel.
You, Cliffy and the rodent would obviously be far happier in North Korea or Cuba.
Those weekly community "struggle sessions" would be great spots to vent your hatred of capitalism and democracy.
And your views that the data published from the UN, the OECD, Nato, the EU, various universities, governments and various research institutions is
false and rigged would no doubt find kindred spirits in attendance.

As for me I have spent enough living and working in Cuba, Russia, Venezuela and China to have my own views.
Canada is a far nicer place to live than the vast majority of alternatives.
And if the banking sytems and communities start to go down the drain here, in other places it will long dead and buried.

Global Free Market Capitalism has catastrophically failed. In fact it is anything but 'free'. It is a capitulation to the utterly amoral principles of corporatism and concentration of wealth. It is aggressively antagonistic to all forms of economic nationalism.. the only structure that can ensure a fair distribution of wealth.. and the level regulatory and monetary playing field essential for a Real FREE ENTERPRISE economy.. which Free Markets virulently oppose.

Neither Canada nor the U.S. nor other Western Economies were built on this Free Market garbage. They were all built on what became known as the 'American System' refined by Alexander Hamilton.. and built on tarrifs, national industrial and agricultural policy, market regulation (in the national interest) and an open and transparent banking system.

The latter is now controlled by Wall Street and City of London 'investment bankers'.. and a cruddier lot of grotesquely rich, dishonest financial carpetbaggers and opportunists. without a shred of patriotism or decency.. can be found.

Hither and yon
We've already been through all this on the previous page. You can post all you like about how much Canadians are "happier" than the British (can you measure happiness?). About how much more their GDP per capita (an unreliable system of wealth measurement) is than the British; and about how much higher Canada's UN Human Development Index (which has faced much criticism over the years for its unreliability) is higher than Britain's.

It still doesn't take away the fact that your economy is on the slide whilst Britain's powers ahead. Let's see if you continue to be "happier" than us should that continue over the next few years.

He appeased the Nazis for a shorter period of time than your President did.
Been through all what on the last page?
The part where I proved beyond doubt, by every available fact and metric that Canada is a richer , healthier, better, more popular and successful country than the UK?
That bit.
Or do you mean the part where you cannot disprove any of my facts so you adopt the typical debate losers tactic of trying to smear the facts.
Using the esteemed Dr.Singh of Guyana no less.
Snerk ,Snerk.

I also included data on health and education for you to peruse.

More data from the Economist on the worlds best cities to live in.
Zero for the UK and 3 out of 10 for Canada on that one.

Here is the thing Blackleaf.
I am a British citizen and carry a UK passport on occasion.
There is nothing wrong with the UK, in fact it’s quite a nice place.
But your endless posts about the UK’s superiority are flat wrong.
Provably wrong.
And your posts about the UK’s superiority to Canada are far, far from reality.
You can deny the data and facts from the EU, the Economist, the WHO, the OECD, the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations, international research institutions, various universities and the governments of the UK and Canada all you want.
But the facts are the facts.

As to the economy of the UK, I dealt with that earlier.
Rapid growth rates are indicative of unstable, third world economies.
Slow measured growth rates are indicative of wealthy, stable economies.
How else do you explain economic growth rates of 5, 6 or 7% in countries like India, Cambodia, Nigeria and the like?
Are they “powering” ahead of the UK economically?

As long as you persist in endlessly posting erroneous and false threads about the superiority of the UK at Canada’s expense I will be happy to correct your errors and post the truth.

If I were a young ambitious person in the UK I would seriously consider moving to a reasonably uncrowded nation of high potential.
Canada, Australia/New Zealand or the USA would probably be my first choices.

Excuses. Excuses. Still 1 hit.

Aircraft carrier USS Princeton; destroyer USS Beatty; destroyer USS Chevalier; destroyer USS Hovey; destroyer USS Porter; destroyer USS Tucker; submarine USS Flier; submarine USS Robalo; submarine USS Runner; minelayer USS Miantonomah; minelayer USS Montgomery; minesweeper USS Osprey; minesweeper USS Portent; minesweeper USS Salute; minesweeper USS Skylark; minesweeper USS Swerve; and the minesweeper USS Tide were all sunk with one hit during WWII. And there are others.

Even more embarrassingly, the submarine USS Seawolf was sunk by the American destroyer escort USS Richard M. Rowsell; the destroyer USS Sturtevant was sunk by an American minefield; and the suicidal USS Tullibee was sunk when she torpedoed herself.

So you are "happier" than us and you have "better" cities to live in. In my view such things are subjective - and your economy is still trailing Britain's, which is powering ahead.

Even with the war raging in 1940 he went again and again via the Swiss to offer Britain very generous peace terms and it was only with the realisation that Churchill would never deal with him that he gave up on the British and moved on to the great love of his life - the destruction of Communism and the Jews and Slavs

Nah, I guess he quickly found out Churchill was no Neville Chamberlain.....................useless as a cut cat that boy!

Trust the Brits to use the tanking of the economy in other nation to promote that theirs is increasing, no shame at all.

I see... So what you're saying is that you don't have the excuse that you were snuck up on and surprised... It was a fair fight and the better Navy prevailed

We do have an excuse. The excuse is that the Japanese attacked Hong Kong without them having even declared war on the British Empire. It was a surprise attack, and so were their attacks on Malaya and Thailand.

Trust the Brits to use the tanking of the economy in other nation to promote that theirs is increasing, no shame at all.

Our economy IS increasing. It's set to grow 3.5% this year, the fastest it has grown since 2007. But whilst GDP growth quickens in Britain, it is slowing down or even shrinking in countries like Canada, France and Germany.

And remember this - over the next couple of decades Britain will be the only major western country whose economy will climb UP the economic league table. Britain is about to overtake France to become the world's fifth largest economy, and in a few years it will overtake Germany. The US, meanwhile, will slide down the league table to third, being overtaken by China and India; France and Germany will also slide down, being overtaken by Britain and one or two other countries. Canada is poised to drop out of the top ten economies in the world altogether, and so will France in a couple of decades. But even in 2050 Britain is still predicted to be the sixth largest economy.

So I decided to look up the USS Princeton... the first ship on your list. She was damaged by a bomb and was torpedoed by the USS Irwin and USS Reno after the remaining crew was evacuated because it was not worth saving. So the rest of the ships on your list aren't worth looking up

In other words... you fail.

The FLAGSHIP of the Briddish Navy HMS Hood ( A Battleship...not a minelayer) was SUNK outright by the Bismark with one volley.

And what about all the others?

By the way, that's not even the full list.

So the first ship I grabbed off the list was clearly shown to not be sunk with one hit and you expect me to fact check the whole list?

Dude... the Germans sank your biggest battleship with one hit! ONE! The Flagship and pride of the RN easily taken out.

And you want me to check a bunch of tiny minesweepers?

I've I've given you a large but incomplete list of Yank ships that were sunk in one go. One of them even torpedoed itself, and another was sunk by an American minefield off the coast of Florida.

That is way too funny.

The British destroyer was sunk by a single salvo from a German destroyer because the Japanese 'snuck up on you' in Hong Kong.

I guess that I've heard it all now

The Hood was sunk during the Battle of Denmark Strait between Britain and Germany in the Denmark Strait between Iceland and Greenland on 24th May 1941 when her aft magazine exploded.

I don't see the connection between that and the Japanese surprise attack on Hong Kong (when the poorly trained Canadians surrendered too easily, gifting the British territory to the Japs).

You're the one that made the post... You explain it.

... And it was still one shot... Honestly, the Germans could have left the entire crew back at port and had the Captain and one gunner and still sink the pride of the RN.

That totally stings, don't it?

Corvette HMCS Lévis; armed yacht HMCS Raccoon; HMCS Weyburn; HMCS Athabaskan; MTB 460; MTB 463 are just some of the Canadian ships sank with one hit during WWII.

Canadian ships also seemed prone to sinking themselves by accidentally ramming friendly ships, for some reason.

Not really, no. It's something which occurred 40 years before I was even born.

Haven't heard too many Canadians walking around, chest out, babbling about how great our navy is. And I doubt any of these were our flagship like the Hood was yours. How does it feel to have your flagship sunk with one shot? Says a lot about the rest of your navy too.
