Why on earth a brit would continue to endlessly post odd threads arguing how wonderful the UK is in comparison to Canada in a forum for Canadians seems very strange.
Who after all is Blackie trying to convince?
Canadians? Or himself?
And why bother to try to and convince Canadians when every available fact and demographic say the same things over and over: Canada is a far nicer, richer, healthier and productive place to live than the UK.
Those are the facts.
The published, verifiable facts.
Standing up and screaming “I hate you, I hate you and all the facts in the world are wrong because I say so”, does not win debates, it does however indicate a complete and utter fail.
Canada’s GDP (ppp) 2012 via IMF $43,400
UK’s GDP (ppp) 2012 via IMF $$37,500
Canada’s GDP 2013 into 2014 via Economist latest government data $52,620 .
UK’s GDP 2013 into 2014 via Economist latest government data $39,600.
The (ppp) indicates an adjustment for slightly “hot” or popular currencies thus showing Canada’s dollar is a little stronger or more popular than the British pound at the moment.
This data obviously shows that Canada on average is slightly richer and more productive than the UK.
Blackie rebuts this by saying the GDP doesn’t matter and then whips out some odd number that shows the same thing: Canada is slightly richer and more productive per person than the UK.
A recent study by a joint European/American group of universities studied the world to determine what country had the wealthiest middle class. The first place finisher…..Canada.
Blackie rebuts this by dragging out a negative opinion piece by an unknown media critic writing for the far left Huff Po. This media critic rants on about the usual socialist drivel; taxes are too low, Canadian property is too expensive.

Complaining about the facts does not change the facts.
Canada has the wealthiest and most successful middle class in the world according to a verified and accepted international study.
The Economist recently published an exhaustive study on the best and worst countries in the world to live in.
The Nordic countries and Australia/New Zealand took the top spots followed by Canada at number 9.
The USA? Number 16.
The UK? A hellish 27th.
Blackie’s rebuttal to these published facts?
A negative quote on the Economist by a Dr. Ashni Singh of Guyana.
When you cannot argue the facts, you try and smear the publisher of the facts.
But quoting the unknown and unimportant Mr. Singh of Guyana is digging pretty deep.
Two of the most accepted agencies in the world on collecting and verifying valid international country demographics remain the same: the US government via the CIA in the CIA World Factbook and The Economist via the Economist Intelligence Unit.
The facts remain the facts.
The worlds 10 happiest countries?
As judged by the OECD….Australia, Sweden and then in third Canada.
The USA is number 6 and the UK? Number 10.
Blackleaf rebuts by saying happiness doesn’t matter and cannot be measured.
When you cannot argue the facts you try to invalidate the facts.
Happiness is a well understood and fairly easily defined demographic like any other.
The facts remain.
A few more facts for Blackleaf to digest:
The UK education system is rated slightly higher (better) than Canada’s by the OECD.
I accept that as a fact.
But the OECD then rates overall student performance by country.
The overall best performing students by country are as follows; 1st South Korea, 2nd Finland, 3rd China, 4th Canada with the UK coming in at 23rd.
So the facts are that the UK has a slightly better school system than Canada filled with much dumber students.
Lets look at health care.
The World Health Organization has ranked the worlds health care systems:
1st is France
2nd is Italy
18th is the UK
30th is Canada
38th is the USA
I accept that data as accurate and factual.
But the WHO also ranks the overall health of a country’s citizens:
1st is Singapore
2nd is Italy
14th is Canada
21st is the UK
33rd is the USA
The UK has a better health care system on paper than Canada’s however Canadians are much healthier.
I see today in the paper that the Economist has just released its annual report on the best cities in world to live in, the results are:
1. Melbourne, Australia
2. Vienna, Austria
3. Vancouver, Canada
4. Toronto, Canada
5. Adelaide, Australia
6. Calgary, Canada
7. Sydney, Australia
8. Helsinki, Finland
9. Perth, Australia
10. Auckland, New Zealand
Canada gets 3 in the top 10 while the UK has absolutely no cities that make the grade.
Not surprising really.
Blackleaf’s answer to all these verifiable facts is to try and smear Canada.
According to Blackleaf this guy, who obviously hates Canada, matters.
Via Blackleaf:
No wonder the local beavers bite off their wotsits: Why one man won't be joining the rush to move to Canada | Mail Online
But a shabby little smear job does nothing to change the facts.
And if you read the article the first thing the guy says is “ Canada has been voted by the United Nations as the best country in the world to live in 4 years in a row”. And then he whines away about Canada.
I really don’t think much of the UN’s politics but it’s always nice for the world at large to think Canada is the best country to live in.
Several groups of people hate Canada.
Right now Canadians are not all that popular with Russians, Iranians or Palestinians.
Or Blackleaf I guess.
But really who cares?
But what really is important and does matter is that all available data and the entire population of the planet all agree that Canada is a great place to live.
Far, far better than the UK.
Proven beyond doubt by every imaginable demographic or fact.
If I were a young ambitious person living in the UK I would seriously consider leaving for greener pastures.
Much greener pastures.
Australia/New Zealand, Canada or the USA would be my well-travelled advice.
Oh, and according to Huff Po, Blackleafs quoted source of information:
The world’s absolute worst food?
Yup, you guessed it.
The UK.

Top Ten Lists ranks the UK as having the second worst food on the planet.
At least it’s an improvement.
