Bring back the death penalty.

Question, has anyone been brought back to life because the one responsible for the death has been put to death? If the answer is yes, I'm all for the death penalty. If the answer is no, why the hell would anyone want to give the bastards an easy and painless way out?

Also, can you gaurantee 100% that an innocent person that has been wrongly accused will not be put to death.

Teen who died in Starbucks washroom needed rehab but mom says she couldn't afford it - British Columbia - CBC News

I can see at least two cases where the death penalty should be the default with the judge having the discretion to grant life: murder and arson.

I can see at least one case where death should not be the default but the judge has discretion on the matter: drug trafficking.

If you sell a narcotic and it causes a user's death, there should exist at least the possibility of facing the firing squad. I'm not saying judges should abuse this power, but even just having it could serve as a deterrent for some.

How can a person sell a narcotic when fully aware of its addictive and other destructive properties?
You should move to the States, where the death penalty is entirely within the discretion of the cops.

Yep, just make sure 100% of the people you execute are guilty! :) :)

Actually, I agree that that is seldom if ever possible. Too many variables like being at the wrong place at the wrong time, being framed, forensic errors or bias, etc.

However, in those cases where the person is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (so let's say over 90% probability), a wrongful conviction will be very rare.

However, this is a case where just the fact that the judge would have it within his discretionary powers to mete it out would deter some and that's a risk worth paying.

My issue is that some of them get out in 25 years on parole. The person killed is not brought back in 25 years. If we make life sentences just that, then there is no need for a death sentence.

I have one question.......................Should every person found guilty of first degree murder be sentenced to serve their entire life in prison?

There are clear exceptions to every rules. I would say the paul bernardo's, clifford olsen, charles ng, and many more, where reasonable doubt does not exist 'at all'; society needs to use the death penalty. These animals (sorry Fido) kill for pleasure. If there was no place on earth for their victims, there should not be any place on earth for them. I dispute every cent of my money that is used to support bernardo.

No, every person found guilty of a major felony (homicide, arson, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, felony larceny, being Canadian) should be executed.

I believe in compassion. We should give them the choice between regimental firing squad or being burned.

Did anyone hold a gun to her head and force her to take the drugs? People have to be held responsible for their actions not look for someone else to blame.

For sure, especially after a person reaches 19.

So you are obviously not a proponent of the old adage "there's an exception to every rule"! :)

We already have the death penalty. The wages of sin is death. It comes to us all.

Maybe better just to create some suffering for him.

So should I be allowed to get a heroin-vending licence? I've got the marketing plan down already. Give it out for free at parties till everyone's hooked and then build my client base from there. Besides, what they do with it is their problem, not mine, right?

Who is handing out free heroin and how many times do you need to choose to use it before being addicted?

Going by that logic it could have been her denist who got her hooked by giving her two days worth of Tylenol 3 when having wisdom teeth pulled.

I've read some got hooked on the first try. How common that is, I don't know.

Very very uncommon. Addiction is a process. They may have liked the first few times but that was choice. Physical addiction takes time.
