Question, has anyone been brought back to life because the one responsible for the death has been put to death? If the answer is yes, I'm all for the death penalty. If the answer is no, why the hell would anyone want to give the bastards an easy and painless way out?


Also, can you gaurantee 100% that an innocent person that has been wrongly accused will not be put to death.

I can see at least two cases where the death penalty should be the default with the judge having the discretion to grant life: murder and arson.

I can see at least one case where death should not be the default but the judge has discretion on the matter: drug trafficking.

If you sell a narcotic and it causes a user's death, there should exist at least the possibility of facing the firing squad. I'm not saying judges should abuse this power, but even just having it could serve as a deterrent for some.

How can a person sell a narcotic when fully aware of its addictive and other destructive properties?

No, the angry snipers are pursued to death or life imprisonment by the cops. The cops get a three-week suspension (if that) for killing people.

Actually, I agree that that is seldom if ever possible. Too many variables like being at the wrong place at the wrong time, being framed, forensic errors or bias, etc.

However, in those cases where the person is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (so let's say over 90% probability), a wrongful conviction will be very rare.

However, this is a case where just the fact that the judge would have it within his discretionary powers to mete it out would deter some and that's a risk worth paying.

My issue is that some of them get out in 25 years on parole. The person killed is not brought back in 25 years. If we make life sentences just that, then there is no need for a death sentence.

First degree murder = pre-meditation + intent = yes.

I would say the paul bernardo's, clifford olsen, charles ng, and many more, where reasonable doubt does not exist 'at all'; society needs to use the death penalty. These animals (sorry Fido) kill for pleasure. If there was no place on earth for their victims, there should not be any place on earth for them. I've read some got hooked on the first try. How common that is, I don't know.

Very very uncommon. Addiction is a process. They may have liked the first few times but that was choice. Physical addiction takes time.
