Donald Trump’s dealings with Russia could be a bigger political scandal than Watergate, according to one of America’s most experienced political journalists.

“Watergate is the biggest political scandal of my lifetime, until maybe now,” former CBS news anchor Dan Rather said, in a post on Facebook. “It was the closest we came to a debilitating Constitutional crisis, until maybe now.”

“On a 10 scale of Armageddon for our form of government, I would put Watergate at a 9,” said Mr Rather, who won acclaim for his coverage, as a White House correspondent, of the scandal that led to President Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974. “This Russia scandal is currently somewhere around a 5 or 6, in my opinion, but it is cascading in intensity seemingly by the hour.”

Donald Trump's Russia dealings may be worse than Watergate, says veteran anchor Dan Rather | The Independent

Yup. Flynn is a scapegoat. He was working on Trump's behalf and he was thrown under the bus ... took one for his boss. The wrong person resigned.

Easy to say, difficult to prove!

As Trump's security fiascos mount, Flynn's exit fails to bolster 'make America safe again' pledge - World - CBC News

'Trainwreck' of national-security decisions throws into doubt president's pledge to protect America

This, it turns out, is what happens when U.S. President Donald Trump conducts the prudent business of "making America safe again."

A scramble to plug leaks detailing shambolic phone calls from the "leakiest" White House in modern presidential history.

Then, an impromptu crisis session over iceberg wedge salads at Trump's Mar-a-Lago restaurant in Florida, conducted in full view of gawking diners eager to record on smartphones what should be a classified meeting.

This media feeding frenzy over Trump administration contacts with Russians during the campaign and prior to inauguration looks very much like the orchestrated attempts to destroy the Trump candidacy with the strategically leaked Access Hollywood tape. The same culprits are leading the charge.. CNN, NY Times, Washington Post.. with the major networks falling into lockstep behind.

It is, of course, completely trivial. It represents casual contacts, at the most, and not the fabricated Russian conspiracy as is being presented by the Liberal Media and Political Establishment. They've been following that line since the election and it has gained no real traction.

It's a sign of desperation on their part. They have yet to realize that the political geography has gone through a sea change and that this is a tsunami that is inundating all of the West. They believe they can wrest control of this political 'fad' from it sole champion in Trump.

In fact, Trump is a candidate of convenience, who had the courage to grasp hold of the reins of a popular revolt that has been building for a decade and more. If it wasn't him it would have been someone else.

The Old Order's ship of ideology is corroded and fractured and no longer seaworthy. Trump's ship is sound and buoyant. The worst thing Trump could do now is capitulate to these wild flailings of his opposition.

He made a mistake in firing Flynn. He has to realize that he has a NeoCon fifth column in his own administration (and his Party), which is rallying around Pense (a very conventional globalist and free marketeer), in the hopes they can replace the king.

Now, more than ever, he needs to double down.. organize the real nationalist and populist forces around him. Bannon knows who they are. But he's going to have to fight a rear guard action against the Establishment in his own administration and party for the forseeable future. But he is in a position to defeat them. He just has to stick to the program.

Enough already about Russia! There are much more important issues to be dealt with.
No doubt the anti-Trump forces will keep stirring up the frenzy over this as long as they can until they find something else to attack.
This is just a soap opera to keep media rating high. The same questions asked and answered, over and over again. Media will keep asking until they get another answer that they can question and that will dominate the news for another week!

And yet his closest advisers go on TV and tell everybody provable lies and expose their fascist leanings, like that creepy Steve Miller guy. His little outburst was straight out of Hitler's play book. But I can well understand why Locust loves the Trumpster's gang.

The alternative to Trump if there is an alternative?

I wish Trump would tell the Senators of both parties and anyone else who wants to be involved to 'go ahead and investigate. Investigate until your brains are fried!
In the meantime I am going to move on with more pressing issues.
Don't bother me any more with allegations, suspicions, could be, likely was, indications are, strongly suggests, we think, etc. When you can come up with absolute proof of what you are looking for in black and white beyond any doubt then we will talk.'

So far it is all conjecture, nothing definite. It has become a soap opera carried to the extreme and people are sick of hearing about it. All we're hearing is 'we don't know for sure but we think......' and 'why would he say this if.....' and 'we need to know.......'.
