WASHINGTON, D.C. — After yet another deadly attack perpetrated by a deranged leftist, this time coming an inch away from killing President Trump, the FBI was left briefly wondering if maybe they had been investigating the wrong people.

After years of hunting for right-wing extremists at school board meetings and Catholic churches, FBI Director Christopher Wray briefly pondered how the agency had failed to stop so many violent criminals across the United States. "Despite our vigilant search for right-wing domestic terrorists, we somehow allowed violent street riots to kill 13 innocent people, a mass shooting targeting Republican lawmakers playing baseball, a planned assassination of a conservative Supreme Court Justice, the violent takeover of dozens of college campuses, the murder of schoolchildren targeted for being Christian, attacks on churches and synagogues, and arson bombings of crisis pregnancy centers," said Wray. "It's a mystery is what it is."

At publishing time, the FBI had completed its moment of self-reflection and decided to fix things by hunting for right-wing domestic terrorists even harder!!!
On that note, in the wake of Joe Biden’s debate performance and Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt, a report from the University of Toronto political sciences department recommends you start getting ready for 4 years of insanity now.

“Breathing exercises, stretching, developing a mantra that will drown out the sounds of fascism on the march, whatever works for you.” said author Norma Cohen. “The point is to begin now so you’re ready for January 2025.”

“The early bird gets the worm as they say! Only in this case the worm is the possibility of staying sane while a re-elected Trump orders all red-heads deported or demands Canada’s PM refer to him as Daddy during bilateral meetings.”

Has it been reported that the FBI have questioned the shooter yet, maybe they could get a motive as to why he did this shooting? When they ask, it is deemed to have some political action behind it, he may take the FIFTH amen plea, so as to not incriminate himself. Oh, reports are they shot and killed him first, before asking, but I guess they can still ask, to satisfy the people in USA, that don’t understand, that he may not answer. Has the department of us war department declared that the civil war has been declared?

The shooter is not talking due mostly to being dead.

WASHINGTON — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was sickened by the deadly shooting at former president Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, joining the ranks of Canadian politicians condemning the attack.

“It cannot be overstated — political violence is never acceptable,” Trudeau said in a post on social media Saturday evening.

“My thoughts are with former president Trump, those at the event, and all Americans.”

Politicians of all stripes denounced the attack in Butler, PA., a city north of Pittsburgh, that killed one rally attendee and injured others. The gunman, who the FBI later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, PA., also died. U.S. law enforcement officials have said the shooting is being investigated as a possible attempted assassination

Trump posted on his Truth Social media site that a bullet pierced the upper part of his right ear.

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” the former president said.

Trump, with blood on his face, was whisked off the stage by Secret Service agents after the sounds of multiple pops during the rally.

In addition to the attendee’s death, the Secret Service said two spectators were critically injured.

Canadian politicians spoke out against the violence targeting a political event.

“I condemn in the strongest of terms the attempted murder of former president Trump today,” said federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre in a post on social media.

“I am relieved he is safe. My prayers are with other innocent people harmed or killed by this heinous act.”

“We must all stand united against political violence wherever it happens,” federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh posted on social media.

Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet posted in French that democracy is the most powerful instrument for the common good.

The shooting came days before Trump is to be officially named the Republican nominee at his party’s convention.

The political climate in the United States has become increasingly polarized in recent years. The tension has surged in the months leading up to the presidential election in November.

“There’s no place in America for this type of violence,” said President Joe Biden, who is running against Trump as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Canadian politicians echoed calls for safety amid the democratic process. People must be able to disagree without resorting to violence, posted Adam van Koeverden, the Liberal MP for Milton.

Kirsten Hillman, Canada’s ambassador to the U.S., posted that her thoughts are with the former president, his family, “the victims affected by this senseless act of violence and Americans across the country.”

Tom Clark, Canada’s Consul General in New York, said the shooting “must be condemned in the strongest way by everyone.”

“While we disagree, sometimes vehemently — we must do our utmost to maintain civility. To not, is to lose ourselves,” said Quebec Liberal MP Sameer Zuberi on social media.

Canadian security employ 'increased vigilance' after Trump rally shooting: LeBlanc

Republican presidential candidate former president Donald Trump is surrounded by U.S. Secret Service agents on stage at a campaign rally, Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pa.
Canada’s security apparatus is “exercising increased vigilance” in the wake of this weekend’s deadly shooting at former U.S. president Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, the federal public safety minister said Sunday.

Dominic LeBlanc issued a series of posts on the social media platform X saying he was briefed by officials from Public Safety Canada, the commissioner of the RCMP and the director of CSIS, adding those organizations are in contact with their American partners.

“I have every confidence they will continue to keep Canadians safe,” Leblanc wrote.

Pennsylvania’s state governor said one rally attendee, Corey Comperatore, was killed while protecting his family from the bullets, while two others were critically injured.

The gunman, who the FBI later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, PA., also died. U.S. law enforcement officials have said the shooting is being investigated as a possible attempted assassination.

“The information we have to date shows no link to Canada,” LeBlanc added. “However, our security agencies and law enforcement organizations stand ready to assist our U.S. counterparts in any way.”

One retired RCMP officer said Sunday he doesn’t expect major repercussions on security provided for Canadian politicians in the aftermath of the shooting.

Chris Mathers, now a private consultant, said he believes the security provided to the prime minister and opposition leaders is in line with the threat levels against them and adjusted accordingly.

“I don’t think there ultimately will be any real repercussions, security is always heightened after an incident, that’s just human nature,” Mathers said in an interview.

Mathers said security experts will be studying what happened to see where things went wrong on Saturday and apply changes to their own procedures as needed. In a Sunday address to the American public, President Joe Biden also ordered an independent security review of the events leading up to the attack on his political rival.

But in this case, Mathers said, it’s clear that people aren’t supposed to be on the roof near a VIP, as Crooks reportedly was.

“So there’s not a lot to learn from this except that, you know, maybe you should make sure that people are doing their job,” he said.

None of the major opposition parties or Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office wished to comment beyond their initial statements condemning the U.S. shooting when contacted about security on Sunday.

But leaders of all three major federal parties unequivocally denounced the shooting in its immediate aftermath, and LeBlanc echoed those sentiments on Sunday.

“Violence is corrosive for democracy — and we will always stand against it. No matter our political disagreements, violence is never the answer,” he wrote.

“Such actions are an assault on us all.”

Politicians in Canada haven’t been immune to escalating threats in recent years, with increased security for some members of parliament, including several cabinet ministers.

In one high-profile case, a gunman shot and killed a lighting technician on Sept. 4, 2012 as the Parti Quebecois and former leader Pauline Marois were celebrating victory in the provincial election.

While the prime minister and the Governor General are given permanent protective details, other MPs, cabinet ministers, senators and party leaders receive protection on a “case-by-case basis,” the RCMP told The Canadian Press earlier this year.

RCMP commissioner Mike Duheme said in May he would like to see a new law that would make it easier for the Crown to charge people who threaten elected officials.

Canada’s premiers also denounced Saturday’s shooting. They are gathering this week in Halifax for a Council of the Federation meeting.

“In a democracy, it’s important — it’s a requirement — it’s an ingredient, an essential ingredient to have differences of pinions and robust debate,” Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey said Sunday at an unrelated news conference.

“But there is no place and (there) can never be a place for violence.”

Mathers said the United States is a different political beast from Canada given the prolific number of guns among the general public.

“It’s a completely different playing field in the United States is the gun culture, Canada is not so much,” Mathers said. “You know, people have access to weapons everywhere in the United States.”

Mathers added that lone-wolf-style attacks are not always foreseeable for security details unless perpetrators post material online and are reported to authorities.

OTTAWA — The Prime Minister’s office says Justin Trudeau spoke this afternoon with former president Donald Trump in the wake of a deadly shooting at one of his campaign rallies on Saturday.

Trudeau’s office issued a statement saying the Prime Minister wished Trump well on his recovery, “condemned what he called an appalling assassination attempt and reiterated there’s no place for political violence.”

In an apparent attempt to kill the former president and presumed Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, shots rang out at the rally in Butler, PA., killing one attendee and injuring two others.

Trump’s campaign has said he’s fine after being whisked from the stage by Secret Service agents with blood visible on his face.

The 20-year-old shooter from Pennsylvania was killed.

During the conversation with Trump, Trudeau’s office says he offered condolences to the shooting victims and to the family of the attendee who died.

WASHINGTON — The 20-year-old nursing-home employee from suburban Pittsburgh who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump was a registered Republican who packed explosives in the vehicle he drove to the campaign rally an hour from his home.

Law enforcement officials were working Sunday to learn more about Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, to determine what motivated him to open fire on the rally from a nearby rooftop, killing one spectator, before he was shot dead by the Secret Service.

The FBI said Sunday it has not yet identified any underlying ideology or threatening writing or social media posts from Crooks, who graduated from high school two years ago and had no past criminal cases against him, according to public court records. The FBI believes he acted alone.

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said on social media the upper part of his right ear was pierced in the shooting. Two spectators were critically injured, authorities said. The man killed was Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief from the area who Pennsylvania’s governor says died a “hero” by diving onto his family to protect them.

Relatives of Crooks didn’t immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press. His father, Matthew Crooks, told CNN late Saturday that he was trying to figure out “what the hell is going on” but wouldn’t speak about his son until after he talked to law enforcement. An FBI official told reporters that Crooks’ family is cooperating with investigators.

Local police block off roads surrounding the home of the suspected shooter of former US President Donald Trump, as the FBI carries out an investigation, in Bethel Park, Pa., on July 14, 2024.
Law enforcement block a street in Bethel Park, Pa., that they say had a residence of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspected shooter of former President Donald Trump, Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022. In a video of the school’s graduation ceremony posted online, Crooks can be seen crossing the stage to receive his diploma, appearing slight of build and wearing glasses. The school district said it will cooperate fully with investigators. His senior year, Crooks was among several students given an award for math and science, according to a Tribune-Review story at the time.

Jason Kohler, who said he attended the same high school but did not share any classes with Crooks, said Crooks was bullied at school and sat alone at lunch time. Other students mocked him for the way he dressed, such as hunting outfits, Kohler said.

“He was bullied almost every day,” Kohler told reporters. “He was just a outcast, and you know how kids are nowadays.”

Crooks worked at a nursing home as a dietary aide, a job that generally involves food preparation. Marcie Grimm, the administrator of Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, said in a statement she was “shocked and saddened to learn of his involvement.” Grimm added that Crooks had a clean background check when he was hired.

Crooks’ political leanings were not immediately clear. Records show Crooks was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance reports also show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on Jan. 20, 2021, the day President Joe Biden was sworn into office.

Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger told AP on Sunday that Crooks had been previously unknown to investigators in his county and had not been on their radar. He said the investigation had so far not turned up any evidence that he had coordinated with anyone else in the region.

A blockade had been set up Sunday preventing traffic near Crooks’ house, which is in an enclave of modest brick houses in the hills outside blue-collar Pittsburgh and about an hour’s drive from the site of the Trump rally. Police cars were stationed at an intersection near the house and officers were seen walking through the neighbourhood.

Bomb-making materials were found inside Crooks’ vehicle near the Trump rally and at his home, according to two officials who were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. A white Allegheny County Police truck identified as bomb squad pulled up to the home late Sunday morning.

Crooks used an AR-style rifle, which authorities said they believe was purchased by his father. Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge in Pittsburgh, said that investigators do not yet know if he took the gun without his father’s permission.

One local police officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder, and Crooks quickly took a shot toward Trump, and that’s when Secret Service snipers shot him, said the officials, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

A video posted to social media and geolocated by AP shows Crooks wearing a grey t-shirt with a black American flag on the right arm lying motionless on the roof of a manufacturing plant just north of the Butler Farm Show grounds where Trump’s rally was held.

The roof where Crooks lay was less than 150 metres (164 yards) from where Trump was speaking, a distance from which a decent marksman could reasonably hit a human-sized target. That is a distance at which U.S. Army recruits must hit a scaled human-sized silhouette to qualify with the M-16 rifle.

Images of Crooks’ body reviewed by AP show he appears to have been wearing a T-shirt from Demolition Ranch, a popular YouTube channel that regularly posts videos of its creator firing off handguns and assault rifles at targets that include human mannequins.

Matt Carriker, the Texas-based creator of Demolition Ranch, did not respond to a phone message or email on Sunday, but posted a photo of Crooks’ bloody corpse wearing his brand’s T-shirt on social media with the comment “What the hell.”

U.S. Republican candidate Donald Trump is seen with blood on his face surrounded by secret service agents as he is taken off the stage at a campaign event at Butler Farm Show Inc. in Butler, Pa., on July 13, 2024.
WASHINGTON — More details are emerging after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attemp t Saturday, days before he becomes the official Republican presidential nominee.

The Secret Service shot and killed the would-be assassin, identified as a 20-year-old from a Pittsburgh suburb not far from the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. One spectator was killed and two others were critically injured.

Here’s a look at what we know so far:

What happened at the Trump rally shooting?
The former president was showing off a chart of border-crossing numbers when at least five shots were fired. Trump was seen holding his ear and got down on the ground. Agents quickly created a shield around him. When he finally stood, his face bloodied, he pumped his fist to cheering supporters. Trump and his motorcade then left the scene and he was checked into a medical facility in Pennsylvania.

He later flew to New Jersey, landing shortly after midnight at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Was Trump shot?
Trump released a statement on his Truth Social platform shortly after being whisked away from the rally, saying he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.”

Law enforcement officials have not confirmed Trump was hit with a bullet.

Why was Trump in Pennsylvania for a rally?
Trump was holding his final rally before the Republican National Convention that begins Monday in Milwaukee.

Pennsylvania is one of the most important states in the presidential race and Trump has had at least two rallies in the state this year so far.

What do we know about the Trump rally shooter?
Officials say Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, opened fire from a rooftop outside the rally venue in Butler before he was killed by Secret Service.

An undated image obtained July 14, 2024 shows a driver's license photograph of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspected shooter of former U.S. president Donald Trump.

Bomb-making materials were found inside Crooks’ vehicle near the Trump rally and at his home, according to two officials who were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Law enforcement recovered an AR-style rifle at the scene, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation.

The shooter’s family is cooperating with federal investigators, according to an FBI official.

Was the shooter trying to assassinate Trump?

An FBI official said late Saturday that a motive had not yet been determined. Public court records in Pennsylvania show no past criminal cases against Crooks.

His father, Matthew Crooks, told CNN late Saturday that he was trying to figure out “what the hell is going on” but wouldn’t speak about his son until after he talked to law enforcement. Relatives of Crooks have not returned multiple messages from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Meanwhile, the FBI is leading the investigation and said i t’s working with the Secret Service and local and state law enforcement. FBI Director Christopher Wray on Sunday called the shooting an “attack on democracy and our democratic process.”

Republican U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson also said the House will conduct a full investigation of the attack on Trump’s campaign rally.

What do we know about the other victims?
Gov. Josh Shapiro on Sunday confirmed that Corey Comperatore was the man killed at the Trump rally.

“Corey died a hero,” the governor said. “Corey dove on his family to protect them last night.”

Pennsylvania State Police identified two other men who were shot as David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, and James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township. Both men remained hospitalized and were listed in stable condition, state police said.

Is the RNC convention still happening?
The convention is slated to continue despite the shooting and Trump advisers said he looks forward to attending.

Have there been other presidential assassination attempts?
Saturday’s attack was the most serious attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981, but there have been multiple instances of political violence targeting U.S. presidents, former presidents and major party presidential candidates.

What has been the reaction to the shooting?
The overall response from both political parties was one of gratitude that Trump wasn’t badly hurt. President Joe Biden spoke in a press briefing roughly three hours after the shooting Saturday. He said “everybody must condemn” the suspected assassination attempt.

In remarks Sunday from the White House, Biden appealed for the country to “unite as one nation” and said he was ordering an independent security review of how such an attack could have happened. Biden spoke after receiving a briefing on the investigation in the Situation Room. He asked the public not to “make assumptions” about the shooter’s motives or affiliations.

“An assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation,” the president said. Biden planned to deliver extended remarks to the nation Sunday evening in an address from the Oval Office.

Is there something being said with the assassination attempt of DJ Trump? I sense there is, and someone should start to listen. I am thinking that the recipient of the bullet hole in his ear maybe should start to listen. He is very lucky to be alive as another two-three inches to his left would have hurt more, and the Republicans would be looking for a new candidate for president. Said to say that the American political field has gone the way of doing anything to win, and the opposition is left promoting violence ( albeit there is evidence saying that the Republicans did this to their own party). With the past President golfing more and more, could someone again take a chance and try this again? With the past president being so adamant about everyone being able to carry firearms, he should not allow anyone into to convention WITHOUT a gun. Show the American people you support the gun laws that are in the constitution.
