For the whiners who can't afford a meager increase in their electricity bill, here you go you babies...

Ontario Liberals expected to reveal electricity cuts as election looms

Ontario’s ruling Liberals are expected to unveil promised cuts to electricity bills in Monday’s Throne Speech, tackling the province’s most intractable pocketbook irritant.

Premier Kathleen Wynne is calculating that such a pivot toward bread-and-butter concerns is necessary to reverse poor poll numbers and plot a course to re-election.

But with many of the costs of the province’s electricity system tied up in lengthy contracts and long-term infrastructure investments, there is little the government can do on the structural side to lower bills in the 20 months before the next election.

The alternative is a straight subsidy to hydro consumers. The Liberals have hinted at one possible way to do this: The province’s climate-change plan last spring pledged to divert proceeds from the coming cap-and-trade system to lower bills. Other options include removing the HST from electricity bills or using tax dollars to subsidize bills.

Hey!

With 300 billion in debt, what's another billion or two in institutionalized deficit?

I still think Hudak took a dive. Privatization was on their agenda too. What better way to do it than let the other head do it so you can come back and say "I told you so...."?

The libs have run out of manure to spread, cede a wee break on hydro 2017 then add the carbon bite to drive up petrol and natural gas prices that'll devour any saving on hydro, consumers will simply sink deeper thanks to wynne & co. On top of that where is the revenue lost [$1 bil]on the hydro 'rebate' to come from... deeper.. deeper. They've slung so much sh_t they exhausted their supply so hit the reset button but the new reset manure smells even worse.
Her whacked out green policy paying solar and wind producers exorbitant premiums is already sinking consumers and small businesses whilst big business either moves out or generates their own juice, this miniscule hydro adjustment is far too little far too late. Queens park has some really savvy planners.. would anybody in their right mind hire any one of them?

Ontario offers some good news and some good politic

There was some good news and some good old-fashioned politicking in the throne speech that Ontario’s Liberal government hopes will carry it through to the next election scheduled for 2018.

The good news comes in the form of an announcement that the province will create 100,000 new licensed child care spaces over the next five years, a badly needed initiative that will have long-term benefits for children and families.

The government estimates the operating costs for expanding child care at between $600 million and $750 million, plus considerably more for start-up costs. It’s a big number but it’s a big need, as well.

Ontario has licensed care spaces for only a fifth of its young children. Families are forced to join long wait lists to get their kids into decent care, and pay a big chunk of their income once they find it. The lack of affordable, reliable child care has even been identified as one of the principal causes of the stubborn pay gap between men and women.

The government expanded child care by 56,000 spaces over the past three years, so the new goal indicates it is significantly stepping up its efforts in this vital area. That’s all to the good, and it should have a big payoff down the line in well-being for children, young families and society as a whole.

Ontario offers some good news and some good politics

It's funny.

Changing your position within days, just hours before a by-election vote and seeing your constitutents angry as fukk when they realise the truth of that position after the vote.

It's funny.

It's funny.

Sort of like screwing everybody with hyrdo rate increases for years and years and then suddenly pretending to be concerned?
