I was a high school student in the Montreal area watching it all happening around me. I was also in the Armed Forces three years later.
They made blanket arrests. Some separatistes were arrested but a whole lot of others who's biggest crime was to hold left wing views were also scooped up ... across the country. The Mayor of Calgary used the "Apprehended Insurrection" as an excuse to intern a bunch of Hippies, there. Dozens of Quebec Separatistes went into cells and three or four hundred of them left those same cells.
The perpetrators were not caught, zipped off into exile and those three or four hundred new separatistes turned them into folk heroes, became CEGEP professors and created a few million new separatistes.
Re-education camps ... in the Laurentians ....
