Book: “Why does the world exist?” page 61. By JimHolt.
==..
“ Andwhat about Nothingness?
Canit be assigned an entropy?
Thecomputation is not hard.
If asystem – anything from a cup of coffee to a possible world – can
existin N different states, its maximum entropy equals log(N).
TheNull World, being perfectly simple, has only a single state.
So its maximum entropy is log(1) = 0 – whichalso happens to equal
its minimum entropy!
SoNothingness, in addition to being the simplest, the least arbitrary,
andthe most symmetrical of all possible realities, also has the nicest
entropy profile. Its maximum entropy equalsits minimum entropy
equalszero. No wonder Leonardo da Vinci was moved to exclaim,
perhaps somewhat paradoxically: “Among thegreat things which
are found among us, the existence of Nothingis the greatest.”
===========…
How is possible to understand:
Itsmaximum entropy equals its minimum entropy equals zero.”?

That all sounds like something way over this old geezers head. I subscribe to the Forrest Gump Theory when he stood over his Jenny's grave and told her, "I don't know if we have some sort of destiny, and I don't know if we're just floating around like a feather blown by the wind. I don't know, but maybe,,it's both?" Sounds good to me.

Myalternative opinion is: the situation when “maximum entropy
equalsits minimum entropy equals zero” is similar to the paradox
of Schrodinger’s cat that is simultaneously alive and dead.

Why does the world exist? We are all natures tourists and there has to be
some place for us in the universe to play sometimes with tennis rackets
and sometimes with guns

I think the Earth exists so that we have a place to learn what it is to be human. As a species, we are still in Grade School in our emotional and spiritual development. But graduation day is coming up soon and those that don't make the grade will end up back in kindergarten. As professor Richard Alpert said, "Life is a school. Take the curriculum." As I have said before, the purpose of life is to learn how to be happy in spite of all the insanity around you.

It is odd that someone used this as a topic because I have a friend who often asks me a similar question. My answer is always the same (and she knows it will). There is absolutely no reason for us being on this planet, other it being an endurance test game of some sadistic alien.
